Illini find confines friendly

Illinois rushed the ball 70 times for 519 yards and used a variety of schemes that showed the Illini can handle Football 101.

"(Northwestern) always makes a big thing that they recruit a different kid than we do," Petrino said. "Our kids are pretty smart. They executed a lot of different schemes in the run game today."

Leshoure's 1,371 yards rushing is the second highest total for a single season among Illini rushers, trailing only Rashard Mendenhall's 1,681 yards in 2007. Leshoure averaged 10 yards per attempt against Northwestern.
