Illini might need 5-3 finish; can they do it?

Saturday's 71-70 loss at Northwestern was the 10th Big Ten Conference game of the season and the math starts coming into focus on Super Bowl Sunday, which is exactly five weeks before we reach Selection Sunday.
Five weeks. And by my count, Illinois needs to finish the final eight games of league play 5-3.
I might be wrong, and you never know how conference tournament play can be factored in, but I'd want to be 10-8 in the Big Ten to feel fairly comfortable about my NCAA Tournament status on Selection Sunday.
