Illini vs Buckeyes
February 22, 2011 12:49 PM
One reason Weber doesn't feel comfortable sending an extra man to double-team Sullinger: Jon Diebler. In seven career matchups against Illinois, Diebler has averaged four threes per game. "The best three-point shooter in Big Ten history," Purdue coach Matt Painter said of Diebler, who set the career record Sunday by passing Penn State's Pete Lisicky with his 333rd career three. "You always have to know where Jon Diebler is." The 6-5 senior averages 14 points against the Illini, above his career average of 10.2. Meanwhile, Illinois is hoping one of its top shooters sheds a recent scoring slump. But while D.J. Richardson hasn't made a three in the past two games, his focus is to stop the Buckeyes' perimeter guys from going off. "I'm giving other players too much respect," he said of his defense.
