Illinois football reaching deep for defense
March 30, 2011 7:08 PM
What was learned in 2010 is that Illinois has a very capable defensive coordinator in Vic Koenning and that there is reason to believe more improvement can be uncovered in 2011 if two things happen:
One, Illinois has to develop depth across the board because any time the Illini had to call on defensive re-serves last season, the results were generally painful.
Two, some key producers must be replaced, including projected first-round NFL draft pick Corey Liuget at defensive tackle and projected second-round NFL draft pick Martez Wilson at middle linebacker.
