Illinois responds to Northwestern's "Chicago's Big Ten Team" ad campaign

The Illini also made news among Northwestern fans this week with their not so subtle rebuttal to our marketing slogan of "Chicago's Big Ten Team." This ad, running in several Chicago area media outlets, boasts "The Land Of Lincoln Trophy Belongs To The Fighting Illini". Considering few outside of the season ticket holder set for both teams can even identify with the newly minted trophy, this is quite an accomplishment for Northwestern. The headline for their marketing efforts is a win over in-state Northwestern. It is quite a direct counterpoint to our aggressive approach. You've got to love that we've drawn them in as it can only help considering the fact I'd put Fitz up against Zook in a prospect's home any day of the week. Bring it on!
