Of course, no one will have a better idea than Guenther himself, and his close friend Jim Delany, Big Ten commissioner. Guenther has served on committees with national leaders, and acknowledged that he has several individuals in mind. There will be speculation about Jim Phillips, NU director and a UI graduate, but Delany has never favored one Big Ten school raiding another. Nor has Phillips indicated a willingness to leave his job and his family in the Chicago area.
