Demetri McCamey inks 1-year deal with Turkish team

Former Illinois point guard Demetri McCamey has signed a one-year deal with Mersin, a professional team in Turkey, McCamey's agent Roger Montgomery told the Tribune.
McCamey went undrafted in this year's NBA draft and Montgomery said McCamey's best option was to play overseas for a year and try to sign with a team as a free agent following next season. Financial terms of McCamey's contract were not disclosed.
"This is what we felt was the best situation for him with all the uncertainty, not knowing how long Demetri could be idle and he doesn't want to be idle," Montgomery said. "He doesn't want to be sitting around idle, just waiting, waiting and waiting. We'd rather him be playing, making a little bit of money and establish himself."
