Sam Maniscalco: Pain part of game
October 9, 2011 10:40 PM
Some days are better than others, but Sam Maniscalco's throbbing left ankle will often keep the Illinois senior point guard on the couch for two hours with a bag of ice after a workout.
So the transfer from Bradley knows he will play through pain for his last season of college basketball, and the workload will only increase when practice starts Friday. Maniscalco will make the most of the opportunity no matter the level of discomfort.
"I can handle it," he said. "I have enough passion and heart for this game. I want to play through it. It's something I want to do. Sometimes (the pain) is there pretty good."
