Illini failed in every phase

Illinois has once again been cast into that great mix of football teams obliged to compete for pride after championship ambitions have been crushed.
What happened at Ross-Ade Stadium was not an upset. Not when the home team forges ahead 21-0 and dominates the first 50 minutes. Not when Illini Nation had plenty of warning in last week's 17-7 loss to Ohio State.
Purdue isn't special. The two wins needed for bowl eligibility will be hard to find. But the Boilermakers were way too much for sliding Illinois, 21-14.
