"We're extremely excited," said Illinois interim coach Vic Koenning. "Our players have been working really hard to try to heal up in a lot of different ways.
"As far as getting the football team where we need to be, we need to be playing the best game in the bowl game. We need to be excited in the bowl. Typically, who does the best in a bowl game is the team that's happiest to be there."
