Corey Lewis granted sixth year of eligibility

University of Illinois offensive lineman Corey Lewis (Cresco, Pa./East Stroudsburg South HS) has been granted a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA and will have a sixth year of eligibility for the 2013 season, the organization announced Friday. Lewis did not play in 2010 or 2011 after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) three times, five total knee surgeries and the subsequent rehabilitation.
