Wes Lunt transfers to Illinois
June 18, 2013 3:27 PM
University of Illinois head coach Tim Beckman announced Tuesday that quarterback Wes Lunt (Rochester, Ill./Rochester HS) has signed a tender of financial aid and will transfer to Illinois after spending last season at Oklahoma State University. Lunt will not be able to play in 2013 due to NCAA transfer rules. Beginning with the 2014 season, he will have three years of eligibility remaining.
"We're thrilled that Wes has decided to come back home to the state of Illinois to play for the Fighting Illini," Beckman said. "As he showed last season starting as a true-freshman for Oklahoma State, he's an exceptional talent and an exceptional person. He'll have a year to work with offensive coordinator Bill Cubit, our coaching staff and his teammates learning the offense before competing for the starting job in 2014."
