Utility work will begin in December.
Staging at the southeast parking lot will begin soon.
Phase I will be March-November 2014. (didn't go into details)
Phase II is when they gut the lower bowl for the new lower bowl seating and premium opportunities, the most intensive phase. March-November 2015.
Phase III March-November 2016. (didn't go into details)
If they didn't to it in phases the hoops teams would have had to move out for a season.
The exterior will look pretty much the same after renovation. The exterior glass will be pushed out 15 feet and be at about the same angle. More room C level concourse.
All 19 sports will get a floor-to-ceiling display inside.
A new entrance and circle drive for the east side off Fourth Street.
The west entrance will have a new Hall of Fame, ticket center, and Illini shop.
The new east entrance will have a room dedicated for recruiting.
The cost to air condition the building is about a 1/4th of the project.

John Groce on the renovation: "A program-changer. It's going to be a big-time facility and something that we're all going to be very proud of."
