Yep, going by the final rankings, we didn't beat a single top 20 team, did we?Look at how dangerous the 12 seeds are this year, super glad we finished strong and didn't have to worry about being a 5
Was just about to buy my ticket cause it's only 2 hours from kc then remembered my truck is going in the shop Thurs morning dang it!
And their best player plays for us~! LOLTexas tech went 2-0 vs BYU. So Ik by metrics BYU is the better 6 seed, but conventional wisdom says no.

I just love the way ESPN describes our team.
Why do so many Illini fans suffer from an inferiority complex?
We beat em too, although I can't remember where we played and it didn't actually countWon @ KU.
I watched our first round game in ‘22 vs Chattanooga on a plane and almost got kicked off . That ending was too much to watch surrounded by a plane full of people.Really hoping for the late session as I will on a plane that morning
What are you driving 120? That’s a 3 1/2 hour drive lolWas just about to buy my ticket cause it's only 2 hours from kc then remembered my truck is going in the shop Thurs morning dang it!
Since I watched Ja Morant play in person multiple times in Murray, Kentucky, and since I was at the Ford Center in Evansville at the OVC tournament on the Friday night that Magic Johnson was there scouting Ja Morant, I am well aware that Ja Morant played for Murray State. I apologize for not including Murray State or the Ja Morant era in my comments. I assumed, wrongly, that the name of Ja Morant is always associated with Murray State and the Ohio Valley Conference, and I was trying to specify a time frame.
Since the start of seeding in the NCAA, Illinois has underperformed its seed 17 times, and over performed its seed twice, a 5 v 4 and a 9 v 8 “upset”. We’ve lost in 1 v 2 matchups, 1 v 3 matchups, 1 v 8 matchups , 3 v 14, 5 v 12, 6 v 14, another 5 v 12, 3 v 6, and FIVE TIMES we have lost the when we were the 4 playing the 5. It probably has some thing to do with that. And the fact that most of the fans watching the 1951, 1952 Final Four teams are no longer with us.Why do so many Illini fans suffer from an inferiority complex?
Me too DB11, when I still worked, that is. At 71 years of age, glad we didn't get stuck in the West with some of those late-night games. LOLTaking off from work Thurs/Fri is annual tradition in the DB household
I did the same. But since we live in Omaha it was an easy decision.Just bought two tickets on stubhub for my son and I for Thursday and Saturday. Was a little higher than I hoped but want to support this team. Omaha, here we come!
Iowa state plays similar to an Izzo coached team. StylisticallyBYU’s kenpom profile looks a lot like the Badgers to me.
Don’t love Iowa state, but got to beat somebody if you’re gonna win it all.
The vast majority of the big wins that got them that net were at home in Provo where they had a massive altitude adaptation advantage over their Big 12 opponents...none of whom reside at high elevation. With the exception of BYU's Kansas win, they are a completely different team at Omaha altitude level. And I watched the Kansas BYU game at Phog. Kansas did everything they could to choke that game away, including missing nearly all of their foul shots down the stretch. If we are prepared to play focused basketball, we'll be fine against BYU.Just as a reference, BYU is ranked 12 in net as a 6 seed. Texas tech is 28th as a 6 seed.
Iowa state is 6 in Net as a 2, Marquette is 13 as a 2.
If I didn’t know any better, I’d swear the NCAA selection committee hates Illinois.
Rental for the win, fellow Illini fan!Was just about to buy my ticket cause it's only 2 hours from kc then remembered my truck is going in the shop Thurs morning dang it!
