On Storr it seems it was foolish to ever imply things were a done deal. With a player that talented where we’re competing against Kentucky, Kansas (and probably Arkansas now), we can be in the lead, the team that drove him into the portal, etc. and until he is on campus it’s still a toss up in my opinion. Not saying we won’t land him (and I 100% want to land him), but against teams with seemingly bigger NIL pockets than us and a player seemingly after the biggest bag, it seems foolish to imply like he is a done deal.

I mean, they're not. I think what's going on right now is just a setback. The big three were way behind on EVs, then decided to go all in and got a bit ahead of themselves since they didn't have the manufacturing process down yet to the point of making EVs affordable enough for the mass market. The national charging network is also not wonderful, yet.

But I think, after a few more years of development, EVs will be pretty successful in areas of the country where they make sense (urban, suburban).

I, for one, plan to buy one, but not for another 2ish years.

Underwood was building an EV when he took over the program and it just took him a few years to get it just right.
Not picking on you...i could have replied to several others... 🙏 please don't let this be 20 page debate on EVs, please don't let this be a 20 page debate on EVs, please don't.... 🙏

Indy said this:

If I had to guess our 13 for next year ...

Guards:

Boswell, Maddox, Buck, DGL

Wings:

Storr, JD, Tre, Goode, Ty

Bigs:

Booth, Rez, Amani, Jakstys

So I am assuming Moretti transfers and Domask doesn't get a waiver. If he happens to get a waiver, who is the odd man out?

Really don't think Domask is getting a waiver ...

Trust Brad & Co. all the way.

My one concern for next year is that we will be a lot shorter, and you can't teach height. See potentially a lot more balls getting tipped or blocked.

However I was also a member of Team Needs A PG last year, and that was clearly wrong. So what do I know?

The difference in draft strength in 2025 makes it almost impossible for him to raise his stock.

He showed the league what he has this year (after often failing to do so last year). It's an intriguing profile. Intriguing profiles are in unusually short supply this year. Plus part of the knock on Coleman is scouts think he's a bit of a nutbar (I've seen multiple scouting reports bring up his incessant complaints about getting called for fouls) and I think he'll assuage some of that in the interview and workout process.

Plus he already made a big NIL bag this year, one more isn't life-changing money.

If his knee is in the right place for him to put his best foot forward in the predraft process, it's time.
Gritty,
I appreciate your posts and counter views.
BUT, do you watch NBA basketball? Every dude complains about calls after every call.
Who are these so called scouts that think CH is a "Nutbar" because the whole league is........

My personal opinion is the "bigs" mentioned on the team or the possible names that are in the portal, could not handle the likes of Clingan, Edey , Burnes type of centers. Some 5 with a few less skills but can take up space, guard the rim and bang for rebounds might be wise.
If only we could have had a big fulcrum in the middle, and if only some gentleman and scholar on this board could have championed him and his prospective value to next year's team.

Some dissention on the Illini coaching staff, with one assistant using the media to air it out.

I think it will pass, but its all about protecting the guys they recruited, roster turnover.
Is this a reference to Jase Butler and some media reports explaining some of the reasonable factors that may have been at play in his decision to decommit as competing with some of the people venting that he demanded playing time and then people piling on calling him soft?

Yeah, it is getting bad.

But just to show what I mean:

MINUSES
  • Commits fouls that might compel you to throw something. He also usually reacts as if he’s never committed a foul before in his entire life. NBA refs will love that.
  • Needs to work on cutting down on careless passes, like attempting to bounce passes through three defenders. He tries a bit too hard to be like Nikola Jokic.

(Sidebar on that mock draft, Dalton Knecht aka Mile High Doug McDermott at #4. Good lord. Terrible, terrible draft class. No way is a legally cleared TSJ a worse NBA player than Knecht, no freakin way.)

During a slow news time of year, we all just veer into other conversations with fellow fans. As soon as there is news, I'm sure none of us will be talking about EVs or whiskey or sandwiches or pizza or...

Please don't bring prayer into this page, please don't. I am all on board with topic veering back to whiskey.

Yes, very slow news day.

Has more to do with taking transfers who play the same position as current players.

What is Coleman's reason for not wanting to return if he's not getting the NBA looks he'd hoped? NIL + another chance to boost his stock seems like a pretty enticing reason to come back. Maybe he's just ready to move on i guess

Apologies if this has been discussed already, I've been tuned out for a couple days.
Feel like it might be kind of a bummer for him to come back without TSJ and Shannon. Had a great run to end his career why risk coming back for a possibly disappointing season(Especially when he is more of a great role player than a guy that's going to carry a team).

He's spent 4 years here so probably ready to go pro even if that means the d-league or overseas.

Personally feel like the only thing that could have brought Coleman back would have been a Domask waiver and an all in season for a championship with multiple big adds(Storr, Reynaud/Ballo, guard) in the portal. However, insiders are saying the waiver isn't happening and the staff appears to be building for 2 years from now so don't see why Coleman would return.

Well, now we know each of you insider’s sources…at least two of you.
