I was going to say, looking at the portal, pickings are pretty slim. If I was betting right now, I'd say Andreas Holst is our 5 next year.
So Michigan gets Vlad Goldin AND Danny Wolf, Indiana gets Ballo, Ohio State gets Bradshaw, Purdue has a 7'2" star freshman center coming in and now Ugonna is headed to Alabama instead of Champaign. Are we sure we don't have any interest in Omoruyi?

Obviously we want to win next year and that's important, and there are a couple of competitors who have flown by us on that basis.
But to me the bigger story is just learning the way the portal and NIL are evolving. We had a clear strategy for this offseason, and I think we're in the process of learning the wisdom of Mike Tyson's famous quote "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face".
And I want to emphasize this point. There are no rebuilds. If we're bad next year but show promise from young talent, the base case is now that your whole roster scatters to the wind, and your next good team is based around new portal guys. We've gone all-in on that philosophy.
(I nonetheless continue to be fascinated with the linguistic function of the world "rebuild" among American sports fans. There's such a rich tapestry of ideology being expressed.)

The panic is unreal.
There will be more that enter.
1) we have to be among the winningest big ten programs in the last five years,
2) we have to get past the first weekend if the tournament,
3) we have to show some success at the portal game....

We are definitely not taking advantage of an elite 8 run. This roster is 2 steps back as currently constructed. Hope things change, in Brad I trust but that trust is waining.

The portal entry closes in 2 days. No one in the portal has to choose his new school by May 1st.
I'm aware of that. We seem to be in on 0 people who are currently in the portal. 2 days for all 3-4 of our targets to enter and us eventually landing everyone we want whenever that is, is becoming less and less realistic.
Hopefully this overseas big is better than Zach Perrin
Looking through 247's list of players in the portal and the NBA early entrants list that cupboard looks pretty bare, unless someone decides last minute that the grass looks greener elsewhere.
I am not an insider, but even I can tell you that there is a plan….And judging by previous portal periods, it is likely going to be good!
