Out of eligibility.

I heard he's suing to try to extend his college career?

His case is the most sympathetic since he was an Ivy League player who didn't play at all during the Covid season, they just shut the programs down.

If we get Kalk we can stop gap the rest of the roster. I'm all in on giving the kid a bag.

Can Illinois do $1.5M for Kalk and then also add a wing and another piece. That's a lot of money and I'm skeptical they can do that.

Love the idea of getting Kalk but at that price I just don't see it.
I'm not sure which insider(s) mentioned a month or so ago, that we are sitting top ten in NIL but that a couple donors were willing to take care of Domask and Coleman separately. So, my guess is that may free up some more funds. Plus they also mentioned in the right situation....for the right player , Brad could probably push for a little more lol In saying all that I have not seen the latest ATM receipt to see our balance so who knows lol

And the big one … 😎

This might be a crazy take, but if Christie is even remotely possible, I think you go and max out the NIL bank that we have for him and a B10 starting caliber 5, and forget going after a big money wing and go wing by committee. Then have the private donor NIL match anything Coleman wants if he pulls out. A starting lineup of:

1. Boswell
2. Christie
3. Ty/Tre/Hum
4. Hum/CoHawk
5. TBD Transfer

would be absolutely filthy in my opinion. Basically the 3 and 4 would be rotational and if the 5 isn't as mobile, Ty plays the minutes he isn't on the floor and you go 5 out with Ty rotating down to the 5 slot on offense and back to the 3 on defense. I don't think we'd necessarily need a wing if we got Christie and a solid big, and I think that would be enough to get Coleman back if he pulls out. That'd be a freakin' masterful team by itself and a B10 title contender in my opinion.

To draw this out as a general principle, just throwing all the resources we have at the absolute best guy we can get, almost regardless of position (though certainly a scoring SG/wing or a center make the most sense), is probably the most rational use of our funds at this point.

We need that star. We can live with a lesser option elsewhere and in depth. That's preferable to 2-3 Plan C guys to fill out the roster.

I certainly appreciate your enthusiasm & your reports are definitely on the optimistic side, which I appreciate. Having said that, a couple of points on your comment:

1) There was a ton of angst about the PG position and it certainly worked out, but you have to admit that the concern was justified.

No, it obviously wasn't justified at all. The fact that we made the E8 and won the BTT without RayJ means that it in fact was not justified and that the people screaming the sky was falling over missing out on one PG target either didn't know what they were talking about or underrating the other pieces we had brought in (Domask, Guerrier, Harmon, etc), which is Lville's entire point: stop going crazy over missing out on targets throughout the process and wait to see what the end result looks like.
