Odd question who else had their tv feed miss the stretch from the Domask free throw to right before Goode hit the 3? We have DIRECTV stream and it went to a full commercial for what was I guess a 30 second to and it came back right as Goode hit the 3. We missed like a minute of action. Just odd.
Last night was the tourney game that IL always loses. Bad free throws poor 2nd half shooting some dumb turnovers and a few bad whistles. Yet somehow they won the game.
Is UConn better than IL - yes but the beauty of one and done is you don’t have to be better 4 out of 7. Just got to beat em...
IL has the best player ( and maybe 2 best players) in this game. They are beating Iowa State. Not saying it will be a walk but they are winning the game.
The history books will show the ceiling of the underwood regime was reached just prior to tip against Loyola in 2021. He is just not good I. Game at adjustments or keeping his teams focused for 40 minutes. Will never be a factor in March.
I echo this. Admittedly, I'm a near 50 year old cynic, but this smacks to me of same ole Illinois. Talk of big time $ being thrown around & then we hire an alum. Maybe he is great & I'll hope for that, but I've seen this act before.
And I think this helps build the fan base too. U start having some success with these home grown talents and it has a chance to really take off. People will get behind it. Even if they are backup players. Might as well have the backups be local guys if they can play vs out of staters.
This is spot on. A power program won’t be built just from downstate IL kids but when there is talent good enough for the BIG the Illini have to get them.
I like the play on approach. Especially on the flops where the guy slides over & protects himself from the nut shot. If he doesn't have arms extended in a defensive position then he shouldn't get the call. Also, I've thought that if the refs just ate the whistle, about the 2nd time the guy...
Old school NBA (like late 70's) had a 3 to make 2 rule. That would be a good option. Or letting the team take it out again I can live with. I wish they would do something to address the european soccer flopping that is running rampant in the game. It really hurts the flow & discourages...
Time will tell if this all works but it sure seems Bielema has a very thorough plan to fix this steaming pile that is Illinois football of the last 25 plus years.
I'm willing to give him a pass for now on this. There is time to address internally what happened/why it happened/how to prevent it again before next season starts. It was a massive letdown but I also think the lockdown the team was on for months warrants them all getting away from it for a...
