at some point we have to catch up with where the talent acquisition game is in this sport. one place to start would be with the increasing number of unhappy colorado players that may be amenable to a new home.
my concern is that we hired a coach to build a type of program right at the end of...
many things have happened with our roster in the last several weeks that individually could be considered Very Normal Things that happen all the time.
...having this many happen in quick succession is concerning
man, the whole narrative around the roster strategy was that we were going to build experienced depth by developing these 3 star guys over the course of a few years
if guys are leaving in these numbers and we're not over-signing to a Fleckian degree, how are we supposed to do that?
it could be...
I don't know that people are wrong to have little faith in 7+ wins.
We lost an All-American DT from a defense that gave up over 29 a game, every offensive line under Bielema has been worse than the one before, the special teams gremlins are back and the schedule is harder. Believing this team...
well, we can at least expect a hire by the time spring training starts.
right now, value added at positional coaching is more important than recruiting acumen. the 2024 season will be a defining moment for this program in one way or the other.
There has got to be some kind of contractual obligation to Nike that we have that compels us to wear the blues.
I live in Metro Detroit. Remember the MSU football uniforms with the neon green where "STATE" is in giant letters across the front but it's so big you only see "TAT" and it just looks...
boy i do not like this. i get where he's coming from but...you are a big ten head football coach in the year 2024, knowing "how this stuff works" is part of your job.
like it or not, this is how the sport works now.
i'm nervous.
i don't know what kind of mike ditka/buddy ryan thing happened between walters and bielema but it clearly lingered through this past season. i guess all we can hope for is that all the fallout from that is over and everyone likes each other.
we need as much coaching chops as we can get on the defensive side of the ball. if we have to spend all fall with the defense from the last 13 minutes of the wisconsin game (no 4 or 88), i don't know that recruiting acumen is going to matter anymore.
2022 was a decent showing and 2023 was good all things considered. the 2024 class is deeper in IL than 2022 but compares reasonably to 2023.
in 2022 we had six of the top 20 recruits in the state and eleven of the top 40.
in 2023 we had two of the top 10, five of the top 25 and seven of the top...
of course we're not going to make a coaching change because of recruiting. but you said it yourself, this has happened to every coach we've had...and the last five (plus cubit) have eventually been fired after losing many more games than they won.
we all want this to be the guy that breaks the...
maybe don't completely separate football from everything else then, but at the very least everyone has to have this reckoning about, like, UCLA and Rutgers being conference rivals for sports that play during the week and come to some agreement to turn football conferences into football-only...
