when Jed see Alzolay go out there and blow these saves , does he
a. think he just needs more innings to work things out ?
or
b. think I gotta find another guy to allow Counsell more options in those situations
He was good last year. The question is, was that a fluke? You’d like to give him some 5th and 6th innings to work things out but can you afford to?

The Cubs DO NOT have a closer. Hoyer, this is on you!!!
If they don’t have a closer in July, it’s on Hoyer. Spending a bunch of money on bullpen pieces isn’t smart. Alzolay looked the part previously. Neris didn’t have a great week, but overall his stats are decent. Merryweather has the stuff, but is on the shelf. It’s obvious now that they need an upgrade. It didn’t look terrible on paper.

Maybe when Steele and Wicks come back, Brown and Wesneski can refortify the bullpen.

Watching replay of Cubs-Brewers game. I say there's a lot of talent on that there Cubs team, especially the fielding. Long season, though.

If there's anything more exciting in sports than a play at the plate in baseball, I'd like to know what it is.

Do you realize... that the Cubs starters have allowed ZERO runs in the past four games, averaging almost 6 innings per game? And they're only 2-2 because the bullpen has given up 15 runs in about 15 innings!

Youch!!
Talk about "I've got good news and I've got bad news"!

Dude is halfway to the plate by the time he releases it; how could he be that bad?
I'm guessing that he's picked up a baseball and has actually thrown it less than 10 times in his life, his hands probably make the ball feel like a golf ball and in trying to overthrow it....he yanked it left. If we tried to throw a golf ball, with pace, 60 feet... guessing it wouldn't be pretty.

All of that is purely a guess simply because it is hard to imagine him being that god awful.
