Really don't think it was just being gassed. Everyone for both Illinois and ISU looked off. I think the late tip had more to do with it than I originally thought.
Whatever happens on Saturday, this season is a success in my book. We got to an Elite 8, we beat a legit top 10 team who beat Houston twice, and we have gotten to witness one of the most connected teams in Illinois history(up there with 2005 team, 1989 team, early 2000s teams).
To be the best, you have got to beat the best. If we beat UConn, we are legit national title contenders. If we lose to UConn, it's b/c they're the better team. Either way, the season is a success. The guys will have to have the game of their lives but we don't count them out at this point

It will be a monumental challenge. We’ll have to make WAY more free throws, we’ll have to foul less, we’ll DEFINITELY have to avoid TSJ in foul trouble, we’ll need to hit more threes…
But guess what? We’re ONE win - one great performance where things go our way enough to be winning by just one point as the final buzzer sounds - from playing in the FINAL FOUR. 5 years ago around this time, I was watching Iowa stomp us in the BTT to end our losing season. I’m honestly just so thankful for the opportunity to give UConn our best shot.
With that said, I’m gonna need more than one more game from this special group … I’m thinking three more wins, please!! UConn is due for an off game, let’s go get ‘em.

Need MD Hawkins in double digits along with a couple more
Have to limit turnovers and make free throws. Toughest game of the year but I think the PU games are a good foundation
