I’d rather be first than in the middle. (We all know the inherent value of “first”)
You get to set the standard by which the rest will be judged. I don’t know how many of you watched the Charlie Villenueva recruiting video, where he talked about Self nailing his initial visit, 1st time on a...
There are a few one and done, 1st round guys this year that averaged fewer than 25 minutes a game.
Furphy, George, Edwards…
NBA scouts mostly care about upside.
In my view, this is probably the biggest reason why he should transfer. Sometimes familiarity is restrictive to growth. Coleman was running some practices by the end of last season. Brad may have been running out of ways to challenge him. ( you can put that on Brad if you want, but it’s a rare...
I think the fact that we have so many guys who are really talented but have something to prove is going to help immensely on that front. The guys who show up ready to get stops will get the minutes. Anyone who doesn't want to work on defense has a hungry & talented backup... No one on this...
Dre played between 6-8 minutes in each of the NCAA tournament games. Probably his most consistent stretch of 5+ minutes a game since the non-con schedule in November. His trajectory was ascending last year. He is probably the only guy who didn't waiver on his commitment to playing for the Illini...
I'd say the volatility in plausible outcomes has never been greater. There is a lot of talent already on board, and we will add to it. I have no doubt we will have the horses to run the race. How quickly and to what extent they learn to play together is really anyone's guess.
I have a lot of...
I'm seeing a kid who is drawing a TON of attention from the defense and it leading to a lot of easy baskets for his teammates. You don't get that type of attention if they don't think you can score.
Having better teammates is also a plus on the court in games. Guys like Domask and Humrichous got a lot of defensive attention at their mid-major schools and were often tasked with taking shots that may not be particularly efficient.
I don't think Hurley ever set anything up for anyone, specifically. The team was the star. They all trusted each other completely. The ball moved freely, and the open man took the shot.
At this point, Boswell is the PG. The ball will be in his hands. He's got to make the right play.
In some cases, not getting picked is better than getting picked super late. There is no guarantee of a contract after the 1st round. If you are on that draft bubble, you will likely get a few options to choose from in terms of a training camp. You will get an extended audition for a team that...
