Guys, negotiations are going on behind the scenes, feelers are being put out, agents are being talked to...whatever happens in the Tournament is not going to affect who we hire. It may just affect the timing of the announcement

Yeah, just like the last time we hired a coach.

This is fairly irrelevant to the obvious truth that Indiana is a much better job than NC State, but because it's so ridiculous:

NCAA Seeds and conference records

Gottfried at NC State:

2012: 11

2013: 8

2014: 12

2015: 8

2016: None

2017: None

Crean at Indiana:

2012: 4

2013: 1

2014: None

2015: 10

2016: 5

2017: None

Gotcha, I thought you were comparing Crean to Gottfried when you said one wasn't like the other. I completely agree that Indiana is a better job than NCSU. But try telling that to NCSU fans and you might have an argument.

That's interesting since he was immediately mentioned as a possible successor at NC St. after they fired Gottfried.

Anecdotally, I work in Richmond with a number of State grads, and the two guys they all talk about are Archie and Keatts.

For the sake of full disclosure then, I lived in the Raleigh area for a couple of years and took some classes at NC State trying to get ready for a master's program. I moved back to Illinois and haven't followed them as close as I used to a few years ago. NC State fans know they're the third best basketball school in the state, but they want to get back to prominence where they're competing in the ACC and making runs in the tournament yearly. Gottfried failed at that the last couple of years but he's a good coach, IMO. NCState is a hard place to coach because of unrealistic expectations from Debbie Yow and their fan base.

Don't forget Musselman if wives factor into the resume...

Would Archie be willing to go to Illinois despite he has no orange ties?

Kevin Keatts very well may be a good coach at the higher levels of college basketball, but Illinois deserves better than "may be".

While we're on the wives topic, isn't Andy E. and USC married to a model

He does. Maybe someone should start a bracket based on the looks of the coach's wife. (Tongue firmly in cheek in case Ashley Judd would be lurking, not that that would happen)

Weird that all these super rich successful dudes have insanely hot younger wives.
