Not that he will be Anderson or Hughes, but style of play.

Ok then how about Alando Tucker lite? That seems like style comparable to me along with the possibility for the high side cap being close to Tucker's career.

Tucker was a bit undersized but strong, physical and athletic enough. He had a good enough long-range jumper at about 30%. He also benefited from sitting a year with injury.

Lite reference means capabilities and not build. I also don't think he will reach Tucker stats but who knows what can happen with desire and hard work.

People are looking for THT comparisons, one that seems to jump out to me is Draymond Green. He can handle the ball and create, can guard multiple positions, has a high motor, and seems to be a leader on a team with players who the outside perceive as better (at least before the last month or so).

Another one, I thought of was Jordan Goodwin. He seems to have a lot of the aforementioned skills as well

Love that this kid has went from not being a P5 caliber player to being compared to Draymond Green in one day lol.

This is nothing... Wait and see what happens if we were to actually get a commit! ;)

Got to love the optimism!

He reminded me of sterling brown some with that tweeter guard/post game.

In terms of play style? Absolutely.

For the record I think the idea of THT not being P5 level is ridiculous. If someone doesn't think he is a good fit for us, that's one thing, but he's not a mid major level player

I haven't seen him play at all and know next to nothing about him, so I have no opinion on his talent level. I was just catching up on this thread and found the conversation around him and specifically his upward trajectory on this board over a day to be quite humorous.

I hope Underwood starts talking to Ayo soon.

Why can't people accept playing style comparisons at face value? Saying that Player A plays like Player B or has similar attributes or tendencies is not the same as saying "unproven high school Player A is as good as NBA All-Star Player B." No one is saying that! No one is implying that the high school kid is ever going to be that good. So obnoxious when people chime in with "omg, comparing Michael Finke to Ryan Anderson is ridiculous. Finke is an average college player. Lol." You're either completely missing the point or antagonizing for sport.

These comparisons between players are also meant to be discussed on blogs like this so I also get incredibly annoyed when people can't see that it is just for conversation and debate.

I agree that it's just for conversation and debate, like this entire message board. However, there's nothing lamer than recycling the same conversation any time a player comparison comes up: "Player A reminds me of Player B." "What?! Player B was an All-American in college and now starts on an NBA team." "Correct. And Player A is similar in terms of strengths, weaknesses, and playing style." "It's crazy to compare a random high school kid who isn't even a 5-star, projectable talent to an NBA player." "I'm just saying they both have similar blah, blah..." ad nauseam.

That doesn't count as debate. Debate would be, "I see where you're coming from, but Player A takes X percentage of shots from 15-18 feet, which significantly differs from Player B's shot selection and hampers his offensive efficiency," or something like that.

"Championship choices" or "Stay the course" or "That's an update on the paddywagon crew" or "Hottest fire=strongest steel"

That last one is the worst, simply because it's not only dumb, but wrong. Tempered steel has to be heated very carefully and cooled quickly -- too hot and you ruin the temper, yielding neither the strongest nor the hardest steel.
C'mon, Groce, this is basic metallurgy. Unforgivable!

I like how many of you hate Groce's press conferences...but in his first couple years when things were good everyone salivated over his press conferences. Funny how things are perceived when losing versus winning.

That's what happens when you have to listen to Bruce Weber for decade... He makes Daffy Duck sound like Morgan Freeman.

I believe Underwood had already been in contact with Ayo when he was at OSU, so there is already a bit of familiarity there.

But his point was good enough for comparison purposes, don't you think??

Where did we end up in the recruitment? Final 2 or 3?

More importantly, where did Brad Underwood end up in the recruitment the first time? Final 320? Or better than that?

I wish a big time scoring wing JUCO transfer would ask for his release from the school he's currently committed to and end up at Illinois.
