I don't see a key on this so I hope it's good to post. If not, Dan please delete.

So far as I know we haven't offered, but we're listed. I know NW, DePaul and Iowa State have offered and ND and Xavier have been watching him.
Recruiting: Horton-Tucker listed Illinois, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Xavier, DePaul, and Iowa State

Guess it's good to go, Dan beat me to it!

THT's game is similar to Goodwin: Both skilled, tenacious, big-bodied wings. Good rebounders as well. Goodwin is a better outside shooter and is more athletic though.

Where did we end up in the recruitment? Final 2 or 3?

He chose VCU over UI, LSU, NC St... interesting all those programs have new coaches... of course the one he chose went to LSU so it makes sense he'd follow Wade.

yeah it'd be weird if he didn't go to LSU, tbh.

Is Goodwin considered a good outside shooter? Feel like many people have been commenting on Horton-Tucker's outside shooting being a strength of his.

I always thought Goodwin shot was "okay" but never considered a strength.

When I've seen THT play he's never shot a lot from the outside. Nothing wrong with his stroke, he just hasn't shot much from three (admittedly, Goodwin doesn't either). He's really a forward on that Simeon team though, and I've never seen him on the AAU circuit, so maybe he takes more outside shots there.

Goodwin was 7 for 32 from 3 point last year in 20 AAU games.

We all knew the danger in having Martin right on our border. He can flat out recruit. He will be tough and will definitely bring Mizzou up quickly. They will be in the tourney about as quickly as we are I'd bet.

The only legit knock with Martin was coaching concerns - could we get to the second weekend of the tournament? Would the tourney only happen every other year? Is the style of play too boring? Legit concerns, but expect to see a ton of talent and strong defense. It's gonna be a really tough annual game and recruiting will be rough in the STL area...

Martin is a good recruiter, I think this has more to do with Porter though.

Got word Mark Smith's top 5 is going to be as is:

Not sure i agree with Goodwin being the better outside shooter. Ive watched Goodwin a lot and never really been impressed with his outside shooting. He has a lot of skills, but i never thought outside shooting was one of them.

Anyone else concerned that BU hasn't reached out to any Chicago/AAU coaches?

Eh, I'd be more concerned if he had his staff put together already and still hadn't reached out. I am honestly more interested in his coaching staff.

No. BU's priority is completing his staff and finding a primary recruiter for the Chicago area first. That should be done very soon and they will get busy contacting coaches, players and narrowing primary target lists. Considering how important first impressions will be, getting it right the first time is the goal.

This may qualify as the least surprising news ever. Changes nothing.

When it comes to recruiting St. Louis we have Ford and Martin in our backyard. ESL also.

That's a tuff draw, Kentucky and MSU biggest threats with Mizzu not far behind. Going to be a battle to get him 😅.

This looks right. In reality, I think it's a 3-way race between MSU, Kensucky, and Illinois. As weird as it feels to say it with that group of competitors, I still feel good about Mark Smith being an Illini. Maybe it's some leftover kool-aid from the Underwood hire.

No, not at all. Quote below is from "Illinois Wolves" (AAU) coach, Mike Mullins, taken from an article posted on this board.

“I understand right now that he’s putting his staff together,” he said. “That should be his priority, not AAU coaches. He should put together a staff that fits him and he’s comfortable with, then the recruiting starts in a couple weeks. That’s the most important thing.”

To put on my tinfoil hat and orange glasses for a minute - if Mark Smith is an Illinois lean and likes BU, it would be pretty nice to give the new coach a recruiting win over Kentucky and MSU right off the bat
