yes that was my point, If no one leaves this year who would leave next year ? Most think AJ or DJ would be the odd ones out who might leave, If they were going to do so ,wouldn't you think they would this year ? I never said you don't recruit him, I said you don't try to convince someone to leave to open a spot for him.

Gotcha. I guess my counter would be that there are currently at least 4 spots open. If Underwood wants him, and he wants to commit, he has his spot right there. No reason to slow play or mess around with uncommittable offers to someone as good, and with the family history of Finke.

AJ and DJ better learn to dribble penetrate and create their own shots if they want to stay around. I've seen glimpses of this from AJ and I've been told that DJ has those skills but this offensive needs wings who can do more if its going to work. They will also need to rebound as they probably have to play the three all of part of the time.

I think everyone on the court will need to rebound. From, watching BU teams we wont have to see the ball goes up everyone run back to play D, we will see players crash the board. I also do not think we will see the stand around and wait for one guy to come take the ball out.

FINAL SCOUT 100: Mark Smith rises; Trent Frazier steady; Da'Monte Williams, Jeremiah Tilmon downgraded #illini

Tilmon - 35
Smith - 76
Frazier - 83
Williams - 3 star

Not surprised about DaMonte with the injury. Still don't understand why Trent falls, even if its only 6 spots. I hope he surprises everyone.

I'm a bit surprised Ayo said that Underwood has yet to reach out to him. It sounds like Chin has but Underwood hasn't directly reached out to him.

Yeah- we keep hearing a lot of things about people Underwood hasn't reached out to yet. I know it's busy starting a new job but that concerns me.

Also, I always thought 18 was WAY too high for Tilmon, so also not surprised to see him fall a bit.

We are not going to fill up 4 scholarships for 2017. We'll be lucky for 2 at this time of the ball game.

I would agree with that, IF he wanted to and did I think we would put that Scolly in the bank for him. I think we are going to fill all 4, I think 1 will either be from someone who has to sit a year or someone who will know they are going to RS, I also think its likely DaWill will RS if he isn't 100%. I realty think once Smith make his decision things will move pretty fast though

Love reading everyone's opinion on here about situations they do not really know about.lol.the ayo Finke discussion. How many comment on here have act6watched either play.ive seen both a couple of times.the 3 games I seen finke.he stroked it.made it look really freaking easy.and strong.ayo, was just ok.only saw him play twice.and second time was against Courtney Ramey. Didn't play that great.couple drives at the end,but never took over or even try to.finke is 6'7 now. And might grow another inch or two.dude is a beast.ayo has a gift.take either guys any day of the week.

lol I am only 28 and I can barely translate this.

Don't you? He committed to the University of Illinois.

DMW's rating doesn't bother me in the slightest. He will get healthy and outperform like crazy.

Haha. Very true, the old, "he's going to Illinois so he can't be that good."

Still though, he's racked up a lot of accolades lately. But as we know, rankings mean little.

My increasingly firm impression is that the Smith and Moore camps are eyeing each other here.

Who blinks first?

Oh, absolutely. It's an extremely tired board trope to hype recruits, but I think TF will end up being an Illini we talk about for 30+ years. In a positive fashion!

Who are the ex-Illini players who had the biggest gaps between Fan hype/expectations and actual results? Jereme Richmond is probably the headliner, but there must be others...
