My prediction:

Smith: "After an extensive recruiting process, I am exicted to announced that I am staying home. I want to thank all the schools, fans, and coaches that had interest in me and met with me, but deep down my connection to my home state and state school is something I can't overlook. etc etc etc"

Tilmon: "Since exploring my options after the departure of coach Groce, I have reconfirmed that Illinois is still the best fit for me. etc... etc..."

See you in June.:chief:

Yes, but we do it so doggone well...

And we are all "above average" compared to those other boards.

"where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average."

I agree with this fully as long as its in that order, once SMith IF smith commits then JT will be back

If I were Mark Smith's dad I would be doing the exact same thing.

This has been a whirlwind. The hour is getting late. My kid wasn't even a basketball recruit until a few months ago, and now there is a feeding frenzy for him. In Duke and UK two of the absolute best basketball schools in the country, who have decorated histories of developing professional talent and Hall of Fame coaches who are at the top of their profession are reaching out with interest? And my kid and my wife are focused on a couple of other schools just because they were in the picture first?

No way son. You're going to Lexington and Durham. It's your decision, but it's going to be an informed decision. You're not just going to ignore Cal and Coach K because you grew up rooting for Illinois. This is an adult decision for your adult future.

I think completing your visits is a good character sign - thorough, rational and disciplined. Getting the commit on the spot is fun but I like it better when they've explored their shortlist and commit once they've made an educated decision. It's just like dating and 'seeing what's out there' before settling down. My gut says 70% we get him.

I'm afraid my prediction of missing out on Moore, Smith, Johnson, & Bragg could come true. It appears Moore and Johnson are off the board. Smith and Bragg your tables are ready.

Johnson just listed his final six, we were not on it. Moore, Smith, and Bragg are all very realistic. Moore will come down to ILL and KU. We all know Smith is MSU or ILL, and from what I have heard it will be ILL or Xavier for Bragg. Now it's just time to land them.

That's always the repeated statement we make around here. Hope the outcome finally changes.

There's out of touch, and then there's this post. JFC. Pathetic. Embarrassing.

I concur find some real facts to talk about on the forum.

If you want Mark Smith to come to Illini talking bad about his parents won't help if they even read the forum.

What are the signing day periods again? And a player can sign anytime during this period that they want, correct? What if they go after the period?

It ends in mid May. There's no requirement to sign an LOI, if they go past the period they would just sign the appropriate financial aid agreements and enroll at the school during the summer session most likely.

If you really actually believe that BU and staff are "mad" at Tilmon and not interested in him after decomitting and looking at his options, you are laughably incorrect and completely nuts.

Only jilted Illinois fans are "mad." BU had probably never spoken to Tilmon before a few weeks ago.

Put me down as one who thinks Tilmon could still end up here. I feel like the hoopla surrounding Mizzou has already began to die down and now that the "super class" doesn't appear to be happening it'll be between Illinois and Kansas with Smith being the deciding factor.
