2017 Basketball Transfer Thread

I believe that all you need is 1) be able to qualify to be admitted (test scores, academic record, etc.) and 2) never have played professional basketball of any kind.

Can not of made money playing ANY sport offered in D1, Even playing in a random tourney that has a cash prize for winners is enough. I know this do to back in the day playing Softball and we won some money, Only thing that saved us was there is or was no slow pitch softball, in D1 mens

I do not understand this: "actually, according to sources, he (DJ Williams) was starting to flourish in Underwood's system." Is the Illini men's basketball team practicing right now? with Underwood running the practices??? Is that legal? This is the off-season. Please explain.

During the off season, we can hold practices for 8 hours a week, but only for 4 players at a time so each guy ends up with 2-4 hours a week or something like that. They can practice on their own as well.

Not sure who Agua is, but I do hope Agau commits to the Illini.

Now you are making me thirsty. The silence on Agau is not a good sign, I'd be shocked if he commits here without any chatter about him.

It seems to be all quiet on the Coleby front as well, last article mentions him looking at small schools, although SFA is one of them, so maybe Underwood has an in.

I would think it's a no brainer for us to take one of these bigs as a fifth year transfer, they will get playing time no doubt and even if they aren't superstars, we'll need them. There just isn't anyone else out there. McIntosh is a wing, so he wouldn't solve the defensive post issues that we will certainly have next year.

While you are correct about it being an issue Coach Underwood has coached every year with this same problem. He will know how to defend the post a few ways without a big. 1 way is to really apply ball pressure to not allow good entry passes. Another is to have a very athletic team that can double the post and closeout quickly on the pass out.

Are you sure that's the case? What about guys like Chris Weinke or Branson Weeden?

Georgetown grad transfer Akoy Agau tells me he's considering Washington State, Illinois, SMU, Cal State Northridge, Maryland, and ODU. Per Jon Rothstein

Mario Kegler of Miss. State has asked for his release. Missouri and Oklahoma State are mentioned as destinations. Outstanding PF.
Also add Eli Wright from Miss. State to transfer list. Underwood knows Eli from his Ok. State days. Hmm!!

Please both Agau and that ISU transfer

This would be the ideal situation. If I were Mcintosh I would be a little concerned with playing time seeing as he's essentially a 3/4 and thats exactly what Kipper is, if Agau comes too.

If we were to just get Mcintosh, I dont think we'd see a problem with PT, but Agau pushes Black/Finke back to the 4 at times and that would mean less PT there for Mcintosh.

A school like Washington State surprises me. They averaged 2200 a game in attendance. Unless you like to play in front of empty seats with every dribble echoing around an empty building, I don't see the appeal.

There are many high schools in Illinois that have more fans in the stands than that.

Now why the heck would Mcintosh, a guy who was *this* close to declaring for the NBA, be afraid of getting minutes behind Kipper, a guy who has played half of a season in college basketball and was only okay?

I have seen McIntosh play nearly every single college game he has played. He would start from day one on this current Illini team. He could flip to 4 if Black starts at the 5, but fits better at the 3.

I'd take him in a heartbeat. I bet BU would as well. We'll see what happens! Maybe the staff can put together a presentation similar to the one they did for Alstork.:)

Good thing 3 and 4 (and 1 and 2) are the same thing in the spread.

Seven-foot center Benas Griciunas from UNC Charlotte will spend his senior season as a graduate transfer at Eastern Washington University and play for Shantay Legans, the new EWU head men's basketball coach announced Thursday (May 25).

If we can get one solid big for 2017-2018, I will start to feel good about our NCAA chances (at least on paper). Tejon as PG, alstork and smith at the wings, Black/ Finke/?? At the post with Kipper, Frazier, Jordan off the bench and perhaps Williams if he his rehab is successful. That would a fun team. Really stoked about two 6-5 guys on the wing!
