We are really building something special here. Seeing contributions from a lot of different guys and they are looking more and more comfortable every game.

Love the balanced scoring, rebounding, and improved 3 pt. shooting. Freshmen really contribute and the team plays like a team. Sure doesn't look like the teams of the last several years.

Team Grade = A. Pretty darned good in all phases.

Somewhere around 6 total turnovers for the game, against full court pressure the entire game. It's very nice to be guard-heavy!

Some thoughts

1) Really impressed by Damonte and his ability to impact the game by doing the small things right.

2) Hope we can continue to work Ebo and Teets into the rotation to build their confidence and experience levels, can only help us as we move forward.

3) AJ is also doing a great job defending and knocking down key shots.

4) If Alstork and Tejon can get on track, we will be a much better team than we are right now.

5) Without regard to record, this team is exciting to watch. The three high potential freshman (Mark, Trent, Damonte) seem to be living up to their billing so far. The future is bright for the Illini.

Agree 99% here, but Teets is so so far from contributing. Didn't look comfortable out there in the limited time he got tonight. If we had a full complement of scholarship players he wanted be playing at all. I think he gets worked into rotation next year and then if he develops can hopefully contribute as a junior.

Man I am excited. I want to see us in our first real test. Which will probably not come against Augustana, probably wake forest. Maybe not even until NW :)

Three numbers stand out: 1) Offensive rebounding 17-6. 2) Turnovers 19-6. 3) Attempted field goals 77-56.

We beat a solid mid major in Marshall and continue to improve. BU has been a fantastic hire.

another good win....seems like the Illini are improving in all areas each game...Bu keeps saying we are having great practice's and it really is carrying over to the games...6 turnovers ? against fullcourt press the entire game...

I'm thinking Leron and AJ for most improved and Kipper for 6th man awards if they continue forward....We are gaining traction every step we take . A breath of fresh air from the past decade of mediocrity...

If we don't have any major injuries I still think we are a NCAA tourney team and we will surprise in the B1G...

GO ILLINI !!!!!!:shield::chief::illinois:

Amazing what having a real coach with a real system can do. I'm liking it.

Yes indeed. Not only is each individual game more fun to watch, but each feeds into the next. Winning doesn't feel random and my confidence in them is growing. Probably their own confidence is growing as well

I agree with this, and don't expect him to be in the normal 8- to 9-man rotation given what he has done to date, but anything incremental we get from the kid this year is essentially gravy in any event. The sooner we can get him looking and feeling comfortable in game situations, the better off we will be. He may not get there, but one of the reasons that you play cupcakes in the early season is to determine whether the fringe 2nd or 3rd tier players can actually perform at this level. Would hate to be in a situation where his first meaningful minutes are in Big 10 play. He is making a number of tough transitions at once (foreign to US, HS to college, living way from home), so it stands to reason that it will take him a while to get comfortable.

If he can get some minutes in the Augustana game, it would likely help his confidence, though Augie has a lot of height for a DIII team.

Good game, alot of positive energy, many contributors. Only imagine how we will be when TJL and Alstork get it going. Almost got the score right ! ;):illinois:

Very interesting lineup at about 1:40 to go. Kipper with 4 " positionless" PGS[emoji3]...Damonte, MS, TF and TJL.

Real Coach = Real Preparation = Real Follow Through = Real Confidence = no need for FAKE gimmicks/slogans/sayings/drills/ladders/bracelets, etc, save most if not all that stuff for the elementary kids that need it.

Anyone else feel like KN should start in place of alstork if he doesn't make a big leap forward soon?
