I have less of a problem, if any, with Tilmon. Who I have an issue with is Counzo Martin, who I think is a sleazy. His claim of not talking to Tilmon when he just happened to be at his high school is total B.S. Plus, getting his good buddy LaPhonso to complain for him, and suggest Illinois made a mistake, on ESPN was unprofessional and transparent for both parties.

Mizzwho may have more talent than us right now, and they may have a better chance at winning (even though I WILL NOT concede defeat), but we have a superior coach, and in the long term, the Porters will be gone, and Cuonzo will be exposed for the mediocre coach he is.

I agree....Tennessee, California, it has always been the same story. He can recruit but can he coach

Hopefully fans come out in full force. The only thing worse than losing to Miznoz is losing to Miznoz while there half of the stadium is full and ours has a bunch of empty seats.

Dang, this thread needs a tad bit of optimism. I'm not sure how you can say your post with such certainty, seeing as it has never happened. :D We have only lost to Missouri four out of the past 17 years, and each one of those losses had well over 20,000 people. :thumb: Even last year, with an absolutely pathetic 12,409 in attendance, it is pretty obvious that about 10,000 (about 80%) of that crowd was clad in orange:

Anywho, I am going to predict that this team comes ready to play and wins one for the sake of pride. In front of an announced crowd of ~19,000 (of which about 11,000 are Illini fans), I think the Illini pull one out:

Missouri 71
Illinois 76

I'll be pretty surprised if we win.

1. We've beaten absolutely no one so far.
2. We've done poorly down the stretch against decent teams
3. Missouri is actually ok this year
4. They have some depth up front, and we foul like crazy
5. The metrics have them 8 points better on a neutral court

Evrybody from the coach down has been complaining about the fact that this team has no identity. Well, here's hoping that this game will be the one where the light comes on. Maybe even pull out a win. Then, every other team we play this season will just be another Miznoz game. Show them who we are everytime!

If anyone wants a sad stat, we've lost 8 straight regular season (not NIT) games on ESPN or ESPN2 with the last win coming in 2015 against Mizzou.

This I don't really understand. Despite not beating anyone and having a TON of kinks to work out, IMO we have a much stronger identity compared to the last few seasons. Up-tempo play, we are a top 20 rebounding team(Groce ball anyone?), top 10 in turnovers forced with a pressure defense, and we get to the line. Yes, the product & talent is lackluster right now. I don't think it's fair to say this team completely lacks an identity.

I'd love to see the Illini pull off the upset, but I'm not very confident! Will still be watching and yelling at the tv screen though!

Booing the ref? That's what they're there for. Booing the other team or members thereof? Not cool, and bad optics.

Re the game: I think the guys will put things together. They didn't foul as badly in the NMSU game. I suspect Underwood has worked on them about aggressiveness vs committing fouls.

I don't think they'll come out flat against Mizzou. Surely they know what this game means overall as well as to their fans. And Tilmon wants that 30 point margin. Underwood should have that pinned to the bulletin board.

I think this is the start of the team jelling and crisper play. At least I hope so.

We often forget that these are Kids. What exactly did Tilmon do wrong? Losing him hurt, but that happens when you get rid of the coach that recruited him (a move that needed to happen). Then, our bone head fans come out and make statements like “We don’t want him, he doesn’t fit B.U.s system anyways, etc. That then migrated to personal attacks and calling him a traitor. He is 18. Now we are goimg to boo him? What do we have to gain? Why give them any more fuel? Why allow this story to further fester on the national scene, give reporters something to talk about, highlight how we treat former recruits (which will be exaggerated), and bad mouth them. This program is going through an image issue right now. We need to take the high road and show that we are above that.

Name calling? Really? That has to be breaking some rule.

Really? Great for him.

This is IL and he could have honored something called a commitment, not post that he was committed, then let the sleazeball Con-zo flip him 2 days later. He's no angel.

I hope he, Con-zo and the rest of the tigers leave the game as the losers they are. If you feel sympathy for your enemy then perhaps buy a hideous gold outfit and sit opposite the orange and blue! :chief:

:D big boy post

If coach puts the ball in MS hands, he will have a game like he did against Goodwin X2, Liddell, and Tilmon. He doesn't shy away in these games. Let him control the offense. If you want to let him cut and then stand in the corner, you're not using him correctly. Get the ball in his hands. I have a feeling him and Trent are gonna bring it
