If coach puts the ball in MS hands, he will have a game like he did against Goodwin X2, Liddell, and Tilmon. He doesn't shy away in these games. Let him control the offense. If you want to let him cut and then stand in the corner, you're not using him correctly. Get the ball in his hands. I have a feeling him and Trent are gonna bring it

Smith is very underutilized in the offense and sometimes the offense struggles due to the ball being primarily in TJLs hands

Name calling? Really? That has to be breaking some rule.

It is only name calling if you fall into that category. Be a good fan, represent Illinois well, and this does not apply. If I had said "All Illinois fans are bone heads" that would be wrong and greatly exaggerated.

I think BU will have a plan to take advantage of Mizzou. We will come out flat in the first half. Also think Tilmon doesn't even play 20 minutes due to fouls. This is going to be a battle and I am looking forward to watching.

Also Mizzou plays SFA tomorrow night. SFA just beat LSU, so they have a chance if Mizzou looks past them to our game. Could end up a bad week for them.

I like our chances.

I'm all in on booing the guy. You really think it will make national news if Illini fans boo an opponent? Have you ever like been to a basketball game? Thats sort of part of the atmosphere.

As for what he did wrong. I'm quite over him but happy to have any additional reason to despise miznoz... And pretty sure reaffirming his commitment to Illinois publicly 2 days before he jumped to an arch-rival didn't help much with his image among Illini fans. :noidea:

Basketball... Is that the game where you try to put the sphere through the torus?

Who said anything about "national news"? And razzing--"air ball, air ball"--is one thing, but booing always seemed like an expression of displeasure for what someone has done to you, e.g., a bad call from a ref, or a dirty play by the other team. But other than that, it just seems kind of whiny to me. But apparently that's just me.

Guys/gals, c'mon - booing is a part of sports. As long as fans don't get into personal insults, going after family, physical harm, etc. (including in twitter feeds), any high level athlete needs to be accepting of the fact that in certain situations, you're gonna be boo'd. I'm sure JT got boo'd plenty of times when LaLu played whoever their rival school is. If that's what's gonna hurt his feelings, then he'll need to learn to get over it.

Fact of the matter is, he committed to his "dream come true" school, then decommitted. This is hours after he reaffirmed his commitment. He should have known that was going to have repercussions, and the only real way Illini fans can serve those repercussions (appropriately) is through booing him. I don't think it's morally wrong in any way to vent frustration. It's not a wish of ill will (or at least it shouldn't be and I don't think it is here in a vast majority of cases).

If i were there, i'd certainly boo him. But when the game's over, I wish him nothing but the best in his career. I don't think it's a stretch to have it both ways.

If we pass the ball like the 04-05 team did, I see no reason why we can't win. :)

Your missing the point...To answer your questions, yes I have been to college basketball games...it’s what I do....yes, it can make national news (maybe not in the way you are suggesting). I don’t really care what Tilmon’s relationship is to Illinois fans... I only care about how Illinois and their fans look to the recruiting market. Regardless, boo him or not, it doesn’t matter. I was just giving my opinion on the inconsistent approach towards the subject. Didn’t really want to get drawn into a debate. Cheers.

Perfectly well said. We also need to remember that this was likely the situation of an 18 year old getting drawn into media hype, trying to figure out the @right thing” to say - which there likely was no answer - and getting bad advise from multiple sources on multiple sides. Lol

Losing by 30 is a real possibility, and that's without Porter Jr.

Game is making me nervous.

Mizzou hasn't beaten anyone to speak of yet, so not sure where this is coming from. Maryland looks like a better team than Mizzou at this point. Lose by 30, no way.

I'll be pretty surprised if we win.

1. We've beaten absolutely no one so far.
2. We've done poorly down the stretch against decent teams
3. Missouri is actually ok this year
4. They have some depth up front, and we foul like crazy
5. The metrics have them 8 points better on a neutral court

Who has Mizzou beat? ANSWER: No one. The two good teams they've played they got beat by. We can win if we make some 3s. If not, probably going down. Also, attack and get Tilmon and Porter in foul trouble, plus get ourselves to the line.

Mizzou did beat ISU in the first game of the year. ISU isn't spectacular, but is a better program than anyone we have beat.

Mizzou likely will win. However, this is a rivalry game and absolutely anything can happen. We may lose or win by 30 for all anyone knows.

Finke has to feel a good ten pounds lighter! I bet he will be flying around that court Sat. night! Watch those twinkle toes go!!

Maybe cutting the man bun off the back of his head will help him stop fading backwards in every shot and he will start shooting like he is capable. I know it is just a haircut but maybe it signifies a more grown up tougher attitude and approach. And did I mention I hope he quits falling back on shots and free throws:)

I'd be happy if he just went to meet the ball when they pass it to him. How many times in the NMSU game did he stand there and wait for the pass to get to him and it got poked away or stolen? At least 3 times that I remember.

During the player introductions, Cuonzo and Tilmon should be and will be heartily booed. Then the game starts. What are ya gonna do, boo every time he touches the ball? Of course not. Now I have to go practice my player introductions booing.

Second, Finke's man bun was simply this: bad juju.

Third, the season thus far has proved that all you gotta do to beat Illinois is play a zone defense. Then somebody has to go one on one at the top of the key with seven seconds left and put up a poor shot. One of the announcers a few games ago said that BU wants a shot the first 7 seconds or the last 7, IIRC. Nah, that's not smart basketball. It's the time in the middle where you score intelligently.

Puryear will be the difference....expect a big game from him. I will call a double double from him...18pts-12 reb performance on national tv. Tilmon will be in foul trouble due to moving screens and attempted blocks.
