Okay being that we have lost Black, we are probably not in the running for Jones any longer and we can still get another Big this weekend (?), why not revisit Marlon Taylor, hell even Xavier has offered?

The kid would bring excitement, shoots 50% overall and 43% from 3 area and also can get double averages in rebounds...sound like someone we need/ or just lost?

Time for a visit? His season has ended? Tight knit to the vest? Still think this kid could help us a great deal. Kenny Battle/Kendall Gill type of game/excitement he could give us again.

I'm fairly confident that THT was not a exactly the program changer some want to make him out to be. A nice piece, sure but let's not get too dramatic.

I don't think many people here called him a program-changing recruit. I certainly didn't.

But I have a feeling that he's going to be a very, very, very good college player. The type of guy that by his junior year is carrying his team to a national ranking and a Sweet Sixteen run. He is so multi-dimensional, and would contribute right away here.

But we made our strategic decision. We shall see how it pays off. But I don't trust the Irvins one iota. That's just me, though. Maybe I'm being unfair.

Thought the recruiting thread was the place for this link.

"Marvin Bagley Jr. and his wife filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in April 2008, during the Great Recession, listing their combined annual income at just over $44,000. Property records indicate the Bagley home was sold in 2011 at a trustee's sale -- typically a sign of a foreclosure.

Four years later, shortly after Nike's sponsorship of the team became public, they left their working-class neighborhood in Phoenix for Southern California. In a tax filing, the Bagleys listed a home address in a gated subdivision in Northridge called Porter Ranch. Similarly sized homes in the vicinity typically sell for $750,000 to $1.5 million, said Jose Contreras, a Coldwell Banker real estate broker active in the area. Rents in the neighborhood range from $2,500 to $7,500 a month.

Neither the Bagleys nor Nike would offer any details about the team sponsorship or the family's personal finances. Contacted via telephone and through the Duke University sports information department, the Bagleys "respectfully declined" to comment."

I’m happy for the Bagley’s and that they turned their personal fortunes around. HOW top recruit’s families seem to do it all the time is what the NCAA really needs to look into if schools are ever going to be able to compete on an equal footing for top recruits.

Ayo > THT....so we already won. Anything else is gravy.

Where are you getting that from?

Tevian Jones, not committing does not mean IL is out of the picture. Not every recruit commits on the spot. He has other options and it appears he's going to look into those. I would love to see him come an athletic wing is just what IL could use.

Willing to bet us over the field for chances with Tevian. No other OV's getting scheduled very quickly for stated suitors. My thinking is probably waiting a week or so for the tourney to end to have a clearer picture of the transfers & departures for the pros.

Just a hunch, no commitment, more visits probably, schools shaking out, no reason to think otherwise in light of past years recruit captures. Would love to be wrong, but the longer it goes, the less likely it becomes.

Speculation at best, but no different than 98% of everything else on here.:chief:

#Illini basketball recruiting update, 6’7” four-star recruit ’19 Blake Hinson will reclassify making him eligible next season now ’18. Hinson said: Illinois is in my final three schools along with Seton Hall and Washington State. Will get visits planned soon.

I'm not betting my beach house, I would just give it away if we would snag Jones and Hinson with our final two rides for this class...

There is only one open right now (Leron's), but there will be more than two more in this class.

This would be a very pleasant surprise.

Well with Black leaving, the spot is reasonably open. I can't imagine how he would not get starters minutes at the very least. I like the fact that we only have to beat out Seaton Hall and basketball wasteland, Washington St.

With Hinson's reclassification to 2018 and his current composite score, he'd be right around 120. We should take that all day, especially in the spring signing period.
