Yeah...

The team last year wasn't projected to win a whole lot of games in the first place. I don't get all the negativity. Jahleel's dad tweeted similar stuff, but it seems like it was more about the staff not being in contact with him.

They made it sound like Marcus's family had issues with Corey as well. If his dad doesn't think Marcus is getting enough attention at Trinity, he is probably going to try and push him to a current powerhouse. Let us hope that we nab all the other Trinity kids. Then Marcus will have another good reason to come.

Nu-nu Washington
@nunuwashington1

appreciate it. Not a lot on there. For sure doesn't look like he is an IL fan. Dogged the IL edits (assuming its the IL ones) but praising the Oklahoma and OSU edits. It is what it is. 4 more months till his commitment date so.

Has anyone on here look at the Twitter Marcus Washington’s dad. I got a feeling he is the reason we weren’t in the top 10

Wow Marcus Washington is definitely not coming here. I have no clue or idea into what the kid’s mindset on how high his interest is in Illinois regardless of his dad, but Nunu is 100% not sending his kid here unless Marcus pushes back his commitment date and we have a miraculous season where we win a bowl.

Btw I can tell you at least 10-15 of those posts were knocks at Illinois.

It was mentioned awhile back that Marcus Washington’s father was not as high on Illinois as some of the other kids parents. Who knows what’s true.

In things I’ve read, i get the sense that Marcus/his father want to win championship and to play against about beat out the best competition. The people that will be drawn to Illinois are people that believe turning a program around is the most valuable currency. I think Marcus is a great player and would be great at Illinois and without having some paradigm shift, I doubt he will be at Illinois.

Nate Scheelhaase has been tweeting some negative stuff at Illinois also...Regardless, it means were doing something right

I didn’t see anything negative on his Iowa state coach Twitter. Does he have more than one twitter account?

Not that I know of. Off memory, there was 2 that I took as shots at Illinois. One was about grinding instead of making noise, the other was something along the lines of knowing where your program is at by what your celebrating. I thought I heard Jeremey Werner say Lovie might want to work with Nathan down the road. So ya, I hope he doesn't burn any bridges

I saw those, but didn’t think they meant anything negative. Mostly because his twitter feed has lots of random comments like that. Plus, he shows Illinois football and basketball some love further down his feed. I think he is at Iowa state to further his career, I believe he will be back at Illinois at some point.

The staff has apparently reconsidered accepting a commit from Thompson. They weren't prepared to a few weeks ago. It's probably the best way to help shutdown the recruitment of McCray & Billingsley, which we definitely want:illinois:

The way I see it, they probably needed a moment to see if there was real interest from Eric Young and Hollywood whats his face. I'm sure adding 4 CBs to this class would not be ideal. They know those dudes are not coming, so there is room again for Joseph T.

I see Jahleel shows as having an unofficial visit set with PSU on the 21st.:(

Was really hoping to lock him up any day

I wouldn't worry too much, as the 21st is the blue-white scrimmage. They're hosting something like 300 recruits for the game, including a ton of 5* kids from around the country.

On the downside (for Illinois), it's going to be an insane atmosphere for a scrimmage. On the plus side (for Illinois), the Penn State staff won't have any real time to devote to him.

Just fyi, it has literally 0 effect but Isaiah is now a 4* in 247 composite. Ranking wasn’t downgraded but one guy jumped in front of him.

I love Nate but he definitely been throwing shots at us. Schools are getting jealous with all the love and passion our fan base showing. We are getting kids attention.

You may know more than me on the issue, but I don't know that throwing shade is what he is doing. He is a football coach at Iowa State, he will need to try to find reasons for kids to commit to iowa state over Illinois. It is his job.

I haven't read anything about him talking down about Illinois. But I may have just not found anything on that.

I didn't see anything that seemed directly targeted at Illinois. Just general coach speak. One of his favorite hashtags is #WinInTheDark, which is about how you win by doing the hard work that isn't necessarily glamorous. So making other statements about some not concerning yourself with hype and visibility seems to be right in line with that theme.

I'd be surprised if he meant Illinois specifically. And even if he did, that's possibly the least harsh "shade" that could be thrown at Illinois football.

He’s recruiting the same kids as Illinois and I’m sorry if you haven’t been on Twitter there are two schools with very active fans us and Oklahoma but they have reasons to celebrate. So I would say shots fired

Does anyone know what area Donnie Abraham recruits? I just don't see his name mention that often knowing that he likely helped with Verdis Brown and Rebeun.

Incase you missed it, Jaquaze Sorrells is committing in August. He is not making any of his recruitment public however. Not even posting a top 10. Interesting way to do it. Gotta respect a kid that is not looking for attention

I wasn’t high on thinking he would commit, until you write that he is not making it public. That seems to match Lovies brand pretty closely
