Likely won’t hear anything until early next week, at the earliest. Seems like a toss up between Syracuse and Illinois at this point. Going for Illinois is the family connection to the school, fan support, and academics. SU strongest pull seems to be that it’s closer to home.

This fanbase is awesome. Love to see people show up at practice for the visit and the eye report from AAU last night. Thanks.

Anyone who was at practice anything from Golden, did he play with the team?

Just Golden doing drills. Nice looking shot. Parents seemed to enjoy the chants from the crowd!

Really like this kid's shot for his size....actually has a perfect arc launch similar to most great shooters but not the moon shots of Brandon Paul. His upside depends pretty much on his determination and desire to do what it takes. Reports are he is aggressive and that is a good thing. Seems to me a far better fit for the style of play of BU than JB. But who knows what the final factor will be? Would really like to watch him develop over his years...in an Illini uniform.

I must have missed it, but what is the family connection to Illinois?

If Golden leaves C/U w/o committing....that is not good!!

I agree, to an extent. Obviously would love to get a commitment before they head out, but I think that would go against the family’s plan. They are taking visit(s) then heading home to talk things over. I mean, SU was supposed to be a lock when he visited them and he got out of there without committing.

To me, it could really go either way. Seems like Mom really needs convinced if he’s gonna be that far from home. (Granted, I think SU is like 5 hour drive from where they live, correct me if I’m wrong)

I heard his grandfather was a coach here on the football staff. The family really seems to like Champaign.

My gut feel after a Golden departure and no commit, is that somehow Georgetown fits in here.

Anyone have any real insight in our interest in DJ Carton. Blew up during HS season, continues to blow up in spring. Almost every Big10 school involved. We showed some initial interest but haven’t heard us mentioned in some time now. More schools getting involved. We’ll have limited scholarships next yr. Maybe we are focused on frontcourt and then Miller the following yr. Curious if anyone has heard anything

Ahhhh the Bob Blackman years. Those were brutal on me as a small kid. Hoping Gary Golden doesn’t pass those memories on to Bryce. :hand:

I think Gary passed away a few years ago, but I heard Tate say on the radio this morning that the Golden's enjoyed living in Champaign over any other place they had ever lived.

...by liking the tweet and not replying with weird, desperate comments.

What? Like the Syracuse guy jumping in and saying Bryce needs to choose the correct orange Pantone?

Pantone is a swatch catalog of colors designers and printers utilize for offset printing. On a different note, the Syracuse fans really love themselves I've noticed.

RIP, Gary Golden, May 22, 2006 in an auto accident.

If there's nothing by Tuesday or Wednesday, I'll start to worry. Committing immediately on your first visit to a school doesn't seem like the best idea and considering the decommit he probably doens't want to make too quick a decision.

Get some more muscle on Georgi and he could be a great banger. As a side note, for oldsters, anyone remember a kid from Purdue, probably back in 80's, that was roughly the size of a defensive lineman?

He was this huge guy who was so strong he just moved everyone out of his way, and that was back when they lets the boys play...not quite like the Pistons of that era, but the whistle was hanging on the refs instead of in their mouths a lot more of the time. Maybe best on another thread, but it just popped into my head.

As far as recruiting, I would love to pair Golden with Georgi...a pair of get-after-it bigs.

Anyone?
