I think Jerry Meyer is pretty credible. I know for a fact that he attends many events and talks to coaches and recruits, but more importantly, he is at a leadership position with one of the biggest conglomerate recruiting networks. So he has access and input from the largest number of sources. That is a huge advantage, it does not mean that everyone of his picks is just his own opinion and source.

People are misinterpreting the picks as well. It is a marketing tool, but it does not necessarily mean that the recruit will end up there. It means that based on available information, that is where the analyst believes the recruit would end up IF the recruitment ended at the time the pick was made. Jerry Meyer obviously has an unfair advantage due to his network, but he is much better than others.

I am not saying he is not credible or he doesn't have connections I'm just saying I tend to follow the teams recruiting guys more because they are following 15-25 kids recruitment's and not 300+ recruitment's.

Awesome, so we’re getting Terrence Shannon then!

What a bunch of Debbie Downers. We just signed a top-25 class, mostly in the spring. Yeah so we missed on most (all) of the fall recruits, but we will be fine. We will sign 2 quality recruits in the spring, after making the tournament. Yes, we will be making the tournament this year. This team will be one of the most entertaining & successful teams we've had in a long time.

It's amazing how strong the correlation is between these two points of view. There's not a lot of "we signed a great class and we're going to take our lumps and pour the concrete with those guys this season".

While I am happy with the first class, I see no reason to think Underwood is anything but a below average recruiter. The number of misses is staggering. We're operating on hope at this point, thinking that a good season will give us a much-needed lift in the Spring. It certainly could, but it doesn't erase how the fall has gone.

I would love to hear what our assistants honestly think of Underwood as a closer. I don't expect his personality to change, but I would expect he could benefit from getting advice and coaching from the guys who are stronger at that skill.

"If you aren't hearing, 'No' way more than you're hearing 'Yes' then you're recruiting the wrong players." Bill Self

I'm not sure how you could rate last year's class as below average.

So, BU's interview on the Wesleyan thread speaks on recruiting. A couple of things caught my ear, I know a lot of it is likely spin.

1. Kids are being told by other teams that we had a Top 10 class last year (I like the class a lot, but Top 10?)
2. Some kids are choosing to wait til Spring. Which of our known targets are waiting until Spring?
3. When asked how close to having the team he wants, "Real Close" paraphrasing.

1. So you're surprised that recruiters are lying to recruits?
2. Cockburn potentially
3. As is 1 good big man.

Save this post, and if it comes to fruition, re-post it! I can’t imagine one person on this board would object to singing your praises. I’m sure we all would love it if you’re right.

Until then we just have to live in the real world of what has and is actually happening with W’s and L’s and FALL recruiting.

I don't mind hearing no when we can hear a yes every now and then with players we actually want and prioritize as opposed to guys we have to take out of need. As for last year's class, it was pretty good overall but classes shouldn't be viewed in just that way. When we're looking at a class, we need to see if we were able to address key areas of need. Our satisfaction with this class should be primarily focused on frontcourt guys. If we're stuck with just sub 300 frontcourt players, it will be a D at best.

I'm surprised how little thought is given to how much the recruiting game has been affected by the FBI investigations.
I am giving very little credence to the "BU can't recruit" noise until this plays out to the end. Recruiting behind the scenes has to be way different now than even a year ago.

This is possible, yet Sean Miller recently landed a few 5 star recruits despite being in far, far, FAR hotter water than Brad Underwood may be (which, to this point, is effectively none).

I believe Cockburn is waiting until Spring.
