Back in the day, when this bad boy would have matched the wordmark our BB jerseys had. Some consistence type elements across both sports, and a nod to the past. Im not just saying this cause i made it, but it would be "fire emojii's" all over the place. ALL OF THE FIRE EMOJIS!

I Always thought these would look nice with a slightly smaller font and the Block I or Shield underneath it - something similar to what LSU currently has.

I totally think Illinois should have "Illini" on the helmets, not just an 'I.'

Just for brand consistency I tend to prefer only using "Fighting Illini" as a whole.

There's nothing worse than those store-brand t-shirts that say "Illinois Illini"

So you'd want a "Ragin' Cajuns" type helmet then, or no words at all? Because this

was always a bit busy for my taste, and "Fighting" would take up even more space.

(The helmet pic isn't showing up for some reason but I'm sure you're all familiar)

Nope. Not for me. I for one like the simplicity of just the Block I on the current ones. I'm okay with them indefinitely as long as they put the "I" in the correct place.

Not easy to do

For me, the variety of different holes and seams and facets to helmets nowadays, especially given that on the same team players will be wearing a bunch of different styles, points to fundamentally rethinking the whole concept, in the same way they did when they went from leather to plastic.

I've always felt that the Illini on the helmets create a sense of forward speed and power. The I, not so much.

I'll never say another bad thing about our helmets. At least they don't have the state of Illinois on them like these abominations Rutgers is wearing.

The all white kit looks pretty sharp today although they almost don't work with the new uniform set because it uses 3 colors.

Gosh, these are just beautiful. There is no excuse why these aren't in our normal rotation.

IMO instead of the grey nonsense we trot out in for homecoming, we should throwback every homecoming. We can save grey's, if they are necessary, for the night game or some other nonsense.

The greys were a fun idea that has now run its course, IMO.

I think the O/B/O is traditional enough in its own right that our "default home jersey" needs to be some variation of that color scheme. Whatever we do with the helmet (arched "ILLINI," block I, whatever), the numbers (outline, no outline, whatever), etc., I think O/B/O and O/W/O need to be "defaults." Taking next year's schedule, this is what I would want:

O/B/O vs. Akron
O/W/O at UConn
O/B/O vs. Eastern Michigan
O/B/O vs. Nebraska
O/W/O at Minnesota
O/B/O vs. Michigan
O/B/W Throwbacks vs. Wisconsin (Homecoming)
O/W/O at Purdue
O/B/O vs. Rutgers
O/W/O at Michigan State
O/W/O at Iowa
B/B/W vs. Northwestern

I think we should wear our default home and away jerseys with orange helmets and pants as often as reasonably possible. This is a very new opinion of mine, but I want Illinois to have a clear identity. Even when a school like Tennessee or Nebraska or even Kansas State is down/bad, people have a certain respect for their look. Those schools know who they are. There are really only two regular variations we should throw out there, IMO:

1) Homecoming: wear the throwbacks we wore vs. EIU in 2008. They're awesome, period. Make that our Homecoming jersey every single year, why not?

2) Northwestern Game: Look. Like. The. Bears. Throw our connection with the Bears in Northwestern's face every single year. When we play them in Champaign, wear B/B/W. When we play them in Evanston, wear B/W/B. Every once in a while, throw in B/O/W for the alternates (not sure on methodology for this).

All blue, all orange and all white should meet their demise, it pains me to say. Wishful thinking and all, but this would be my preference.
