Only based on his comments in the recent article, it sure sounds like Texas A&M will end up with Timme. Possibly Gonzaga...I think the campus life at Illinois has changed and maybe it isn't a great environment anymore for the typical college athlete that has so many options..

Crikey, recruiting has been a cesspool for a looooong time. There's too much money and power on the line (in tandem with lame enforcement) to clean it up.

Yup.

Boosters have been paying ringers since before I was born. It's nothing new. The scope may be slightly bigger, but the real difference is how much easier it is to see behind the curtain, and how the sausage gets made. Fortunately, the market for talent drops off enough that guys can recruit anyway. I seriously doubt Weber was a cheat, and he reeled in some top-100 guys. Richmond was RSCI 24, and Leonard was 29.

Citing my own first-hand experience, the campus environment at Illinois is better than Texas A&M. Facilities and recent history, on the other hand...

As long as I see this posted I will always give it a "Like". Job well done.

The perception may be different for state kids though. While Texas A&M may be a tougher sell for out-of-state recruits, much of the recent success at Texas A&M has been built with in-state kids and the close ties with state AAU and HS programs that Billy Kennedy and staff have developed. Drew Timme fits the profile that Texas A&M has had more success with.

This just hurts my feelings so much. Broke a collar bone this year hitting a bump I couldn't see.

But the campus environment is great at cult-like Texas A&M or beautiful western Washington at Gonzaga? Please gmab.
Spokane is in Eastern WA, and is a very cool town. I love CU too, but I'd take Spokane any day, given the choice.

For adults maybe. You really think things like this have much impact on 18-year-old kids? I am thinking not so much. Then there's the Northwest rainy season!

It would have when I was looking at schools.

Rains more in CU. Spokane is in eastern WA. Barely rains more in Seattle and Tacoma (Western WA) than in CU or Chicago, just more drizzly days. We never get the crazy rainstorms of the Midwest, rarely get thunderstorms, and hardly anyone here even bothers to carry an umbrella. The PNW is great, just wish the Illini would play here more often.

tOSU has offered Rolling Meadows G Max Christie.

He was sitting directly in front of me at the NU Exhibition game on Friday night with his head down and a hoodie on and his parents were sitting on either side of him patting his back. Then he suddenly got up and hustled out like he had to puke. I was sitting next to another recruit (Isaiah Rivera) and his mom and they said he'd been struggling during the visit. Feel sorry for NU lol. On the bright side, Isaiah Rivera was a great kid to talk to and I chatted with Patrick Baldwin for a while also. Great kid who's friends with my son from when he lived in Evanston until a few years back. Still WAY down to earth and humble. Can hardly believe what's happening to him.

Didn't Izzo make a statement about dirty recruiting in Chicago, a couple years ago.

I think another issue, if you want to call it that, is monopolization. You can't just roll in with a bunch of money "ready to cheat" and expect to be let in that game. It has been set in stone for a while now. I'm betting there are a bunch of programs ready to pay up - and still get outfoxed in the end by the machine. Just my opinion, but it shouldn't be some cosmic secret what happens within unregulated big money industries... Possibly more suited for the corruption thread.

Sorry! Just trying to be funny! Had a friend in high school break his collar bone, and it was excruciating.
