I admit I felt similar last year at the start, but I think we have enough shooters and guys that can drive to avoid the dry stretches better this year. That alone should result in a couple more wins. I really still think our season hinges on whether AD can be a factor and stay healthy. He and GB could be a very solid interior together.

This is a much better team than last year and a up grade in talent. We were in most every game last year we players that could not shoot or defend. We are much better shooters and we have players that can move their feet to defend. This team is going to make the Tournament.

We’re there any high rated bigs on GBs high school team? Maybe he has more experience than most freshman going up against good bigs

College bball is a guards game. I believe we have a clear advantage. I believe we will win the turnover and shooting battles. Need to cover Govan well. Likely double team and smother his we did vs. Mizzou last year.

On a side note we need to recruit Govan type bigs for this offense.Highly mobile, great offense rebounder, can hit 3s.

I think we'll beat Georgetown by at least 10.

Kipper should be way more lethal there than he has been. You don’t put a guy like kip at 5 in this offense for him to shoot over bigs, unless he has a ton of space (he hasn’t). You put him there to attack them off 1-2 dribbles on an island. He didn’t do that in the exhibition or game one. Would be nice if he started doing that.

Dribbles on an island? I finally understand pinch post, and now you throw this one at me. How does one dribble on an island?

This is what I'm most interested to see.

Yup!! The Govan vs Giorgi will tell us a lot as well as the Akinjo vs Ayo matchup. Akinjo got the best of Ayo last year in the Tark Classic. We will see a lot of zone defense. I'm looking for a line of +/- 4 or 5 pts.

Thing I am worried about is that Evansville took our guards to the rim last week more often than I would have thought they could have. I was surprised both Ayo and Feliz got beat multiple times.

Williams, too, that brace is starting to look more like a detriment rather than preventative. The guards did defend the 3 well, though.

Here he is going against Naz Reid in a game.

If you watch this closely, you can tell exactly why Giorgi is our starting center now and probably in our future. He is running same type of sets, he knows the role, he is an above average passer, with a good shot and ability to score when needed, not often. I think we really have a solid 4 year (5) with him, and maybe better as he gets stronger and more athletic.

Zone doesn’t scare me as much if we attack gaps as opposed to just passing around the perimeter. Our shooters seemed pretty solid in game one.

Any word on Griffin’s availability? That could possible be a boon to the shooting.

I hope Georgetown plays a ton of zone. We'll shred it.

Maybe this video of Georgetown's recent game against Central Connecticut might shed some light...

Govan looks like a challenge. As someone said earlier, we'll get a reading on Giorgi in this one.

How is Govan’s ballhandling?

He looks like he can shoot and be effective low. But if we double when he puts the ball down in the post or run him off the 3 point line maybe we can get something if he can’t handle so well.

Govan sounds like he's straight out of a bad Japanese horror movie.

Georgetown, Iowa State, and Arizona are all potential OOC opponents that look beatable. As for Tuesday I predict we play well, almost blow the game late, and Feliz seals it with some late free throws. 86-81 Illini. Still don't think we are a tournament team but starting 2-0 would be so far, so good.
