Mark Few bringing in 3 6'10 top 50 in this class is crazy.

A very unique situation. Working with high schoolers, I know that there are students who want to get away from home for a new experience, but also want to go someplace where they will feel more comfortable with a more personalized experience than a large school provides. Combine that with a program that has been consistently in the top 10, puts big guys in the NBA, and is in the conversation of those who may vie for the NC almost every year, and you have something significant to offer kids.

I get the draw for them to the program but I think it would be hard to sell all 3 in one class. I know Timme may play a little more stretch 4 and no clue about the other 2. We struggle to sell anyone with size.

Timme will be the down low guy, not athletic at all really, Watson will be the forward with the most "upside" and Zakharov, well Tommy Floyd is simply amazing getting Euro to that school. I wish we could do half as well as he does...Gonzaga knows it as well, they rewarded him with a huge pay day as a result of the years of talent and commitment to that school.

Timme would have fit in well here for sure....the avenues we could have went after that! Let's hope the Kofi is not cool and at least stays warm until commitment time for us!

Memphis, Illinois, USC, and UCLA all were on hand tonight for 2020 five-star Kyree Walker, a source told Stockrisers.

Class of 2019 small forward Christian Brown
Illinois head coach Brad Underwood and assistant coach Orlando Antigua were both in to see him last night.

Georgetown, Illinois and Memphis are the latest to offer top-five sophomore Michael Foster

I hope we still have time to prepare for the Braggin' Rights game with all this recruiting!

Are they recruiting Kyree Walker for 2019?

Doubtful, Kyree is top 15 in the country. Former ASU commit. He happens to play for Hillcrest Academy which is school that January is supposedly playing for. Chin was at the Hillcrest/Prolific game to see Nimari Burnett. Hearing good things about that recruitment. WY is also at Tark Classic and Chin is watching Steward.

Dec 18, 2018 :: Piper: Perception may fall short of reality in Chicago critique

As for other recruits… Underwood downed some blood thinners (required after his knee replacement surgery) to hop a plane and get out to see Kofi Cockburn last month. The top-40 center will take his official visit to Champaign next weekend. And Underwood will be at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. on Wednesday to see him again.

He also hit the road last week to see a handful of guys out west. That included top-100 big man and 2019 commit Antwan January, as well as five-star 2020 guard Kyree Walker -- a hot candidate to reclass to 2019

Wouldn't mind Devan Cambridge from Hillcrest actually...that kid is a pogo stick. Talent and can shoot as well

Top-40 PG Caleb Love (@caleb2love) tells me he will be at Braggin’ Rights tonight as an #Illini recruiting guest.
Assistant coach Jamall Walker watched him go for 25 in a win against Chaminade last week. High-priority 2020 target.

Top-150 junior Davion Bradford will be at Braggin’ Rights tonight as a recruiting guest of Illinois, a source told Stockrisers.
Illinois has offered the Hillcrest Hoops forward out of Arizona.

Someone remind me how the recruits at BR works. Love is being recruited by both schools, and in the past other players have been in the same situation. My impression was that they are more there to see both teams and enjoy the atmosphere instead of getting a hard sell from one school or the other.

If I remember correctly from a couple years ago, I believe whichever team is considered the home team, is the one who gets to "host" the recruits

I wonder if there's like a gentlemen's agreement that the "home" team will bring recruits being recruited seriously by both.

I believe the rule is that very school can provide up to 3 tickets (1 to recruit and 2 more to accompanying family members) for any sporting event that the school participates, but not for conference tournaments and any post-season tournament of event. The school can also provide transportation within a 30-mile radius. So the BR game would not qualify.

So the extend of "hosting" that was mentioned was nothing more than UI having provided the tickets to the recruit(s). The recruit and family paid all other expenses including transportation, as per unofficial visits.

I really hope those "good things" on Burnett pan out. I've watched him play a couple times, and I believe he would be the best player on our team right now.

Anybody know where Carl Lewis is going? 6’10 Center who goes to Hillcrest with Antwan January. He’s ranked 63rd in the nation and has no crystal ball predictions so I was wondering if we could slide in and maybe land both guys in the Hillcrest frontcourt.
