Wasn’t able to watch the game, but nothing but positive things being said so far about Berhalter.

Excited for the Gold Cup this summer. The u20 World Cup will also be taking place in Poland at the end of May. Plus qualification for the 2020 Olympics should be happening this year as well. But CONCACAF hasn’t announced anything for it yet.

In front of a pretty sparse crowd by some reports I've seen.

Though to be fair it was the second biggest event happening in the Phoenix area this weekend.

Thought the announcers said 7K in attendance. That's pathetic, but clearly understand why fans are down.

True. But with the Royal Rumble taking place at Chase Field at the same time and the Phoenix Open golf tournament happening next weekend, it was gonna be tough to get locals to spend money on tickets on events like that and an international friendly against a Panama team that likely wouldn't draw many casual fans. Now if it was say a bigger name team in the region like say, Mexico, then that might draw a few more people out.

They really should’ve picked a small intimate venue. Like under 10K capacity. In a town that normally wouldn’t get a USMNT game.

Ballsy to suggest the Panamanian B team isn't a big draw. :ROFLMAO:

From Joseph Lowery's Berhalter article today's Athletic:

"There is no doubt: Gregg Berhalter’s tactics were effective in this 3-0 win over Panama. Between playing Nick Lima as an inverted fullback, rolling out dual No. 10s, displaying a structured counter press, and defending out of a detailed block, Gregg Berhalter put his tactical nuance on display."

Pretty optimistic that Berhalter is a good choice.

Tottenham dominated Dortmund 3-0 yesterday in the 1st leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. Not bad for a team who hasn't bought a player in over a year and was playing without Harry Kane, Dele Alli and their top 2 left backs.

We REALLY need Reus back and healthy ... at least he's practicing.

Whoops. Forgot there were 2 soccer threads. Hopefully no one makes one for the MLS because the Fire’s management has made them unbearable

A damn shame, because the Fire were a top club. They'd pack their stadium if they were good. Hauptman is a quintessential vulture capitalist.

they'd also pack their stadium if it was more convenient for most of the city

Worst home defeat for Real Madrid in their European history. Real Madrid had reached semis 8 straight seasons and hadn't failed to make it past the round of 16 since 2010. Ajax will be playing in the round of 16 for the first time since 2006.

Real doesn't miss Ronaldo. :ROFLMAO:

One could argue all four of the winners were the underdogs. As a united fan, I would happily take a matchup with any of the other 3 teams that have advanced but know they will get Barca.

juventus with the ronaldo show yesterday as they recover from the 2-0 loss to atletico in the first leg.

plus, six city players get on the scoresheet with a 7-0 rout of schalke.

should hopefully be some good competitive matches today as both first legs ended 0-0

Of the last 8 teams still alive in the UEFA Champions League, 1/2 are from the EPL (Liverpool, Man City, Man U, Spurs).
