At first, this win left a sour taste in my mouth. then I looked at our win column and happily accepted the W.
Hot take: ADLR is our new technical free throw shooter.

Out rebounded 50 to 36 and no Samba???
Omg, what's up with this Samba thing? He isnt as good as Georgi or is his body B10 strong yet, thus no Samba and more GB and DeLarosa. When will people see and or realize GB is better than most thought and is a much better player now than Samba is. Samba should redshirt and could be very good. You think free throws were bad today?

Underwood: I thought, by far and away, from a defensive standpoint it was our best game.

I thought we had 'em sped up. Our pressure was really, really good.

Underwood: I thought offensively we were good. We got out in transition. Made some timely shots.

Underwood on Kipper: He never stopped being a great teammate. Never stopped being a good locker room guy. Last 2 days, the ball started going in for him. Saw a different guy.

Underwood: I don't want to negative about last year, but we're light years ahead of last year. Our competitive fire.. Our mistakes are youthful mistakes.

Jumped to 75 (was 81) on KenPom. Nebraska falls to 25 (was 24?).

Closing in on the bubble at 7-15. Crazy. Not outside the realm of possibility that would might be around 58-60 and not make the big dance.

Great win for the forum. Not only did the team win, but they gave the negative posters something huge to complain about.

Amen brother....

Great win by the Illini and Brian B. had a great line on the radio...

So we're a long way from a finished product, we still do a lot of things wrong on defense and lack shooting and development is far from a guarantee, etc.

HOWEVER

The way we're playing of late there's every reason to think we could end up with 7 or 8 B1G wins. Accomplish that, bring all your major pieces back, sign our recruiting class and put another offseason of work into these guys, finally as a team and not as strangers who just met each other? That's cause for real optimism going into next year.

Suddenly the patient has a heartbeat, is what I'm saying.
OK........Who are you? And what did you do to CG. lol

About the free throw shooting...

Did anyone else notice the announcers?

“He’s a good free throw shooter, 78%.”

-Doink

“Kipper struggles from the line.”

These 2nd, 3rd, 4th stringers haven't done their homework.

For an at large bid you most likely need to be ranked within the Top 40-50

Corey Bradford, Kiwane Garris and Deon Thomas were all better as freshmen.

Ayo is in the discussion of best freshmen year, but will probably lean towards Dee and Kiwane. Was too young to see Bruce Douglas play much. Frank Williams, Cory Bradford, Nick Anderson, Marcus Liberty, Nick Anderson all sat out their first year. I don't think they should be included.

I could have understood some Samba time today - Nebraska is not a banger type big team - rather they run or scramble to position. ADLR got beat down the court multiple times. And I think he gives us a better offensive threat over ADLR. Clearly not in at the end for FTs, but I would have thought he was coming in when ADLR picked up his 2nd in the first half.
