Proud of the team and coaches!

Disappointed in Bardo as an announcer. He always tries too hard to not look like he favors Illinois, but too often this game he spoke in favor of Rutgers or against Illinois before even watching the play to see what really happened. The shove at the end on Giorgi where he criticized Feliz and especially AJ for “wanting to be an enforcer” is just one, but is the most glaring example.

Go Illini!!!

He cant pronounce anyone's names either. I'll take Dakich over Bardo any day of the week.

What is so great about Giorgi is his ability to finish with both hands and his extremely soft touch around the rim for a freshman big. Some guys can finish but not usually with both hands and that soft touch gives him a lot of rolls that other guys don’t get.

I'm tellin' ya, it's just Nerf hoop for GB

You obviously didn't see the replays and the definitive camera shot.

What I'm on about is that bad/good calls go both ways and Illini losses shouldn't be blamed on the refs. Peace.
Everyone saw it go off Giorgi’s foot, including the refs when they reviewed it. You do understand that they overturned the call? That play literally had 0 impact on the result of the game one way or the other.

One thing I have been thinking about re next year is how cool it could be when Ayo (please God if he stays) Giorgi, Tev and Griffin get fully "Fletched".
We could have an incredibly athletic cast. Then toss in Cofi and January, move GB to the 4, and who knows.

Was really impressed at how we extended the lead to 72-65 in the second half with Trent and Ayo sitting, and Dre running the show. That bodes very well for us going forward.

Post entry is such a lost art in the game today. A lot of teams *cough* Mizzou *cough* have good post players and can’t get them the ball consistently. Young players specifically struggle with getting the ball down low.

We’re a young team and we’re amazing at it. By now every opponent knows Giorgi is a threat, and they still can’t stop him from getting the ball. And we can get him the ball in so many different ways.

This offense consistently puts Giorgi in great positions to score with just one or two moves. That’s all BU. Leron and now Giorgi. PF/C recruits should be knocking down BU’s door trying to get a spot on his team.

Just finished watching on DVR and came to say the same thing--Feels like we've had more good passes into the post than we've had in the last decade. We have several players that are both willing and able to enter the ball down low; we have seen seasons with rosters that were filled with players that were either/or (and in some cases, neither!). Really great to see and a huge factor in the emergence of Giorgi's scoring.

So true. And all of last year and the beginning of this year I (and probably many) were screaming to get it to the post man when he had his guy on his back - thank God 1) the guards/wings get it now and 2) Giorgi has very quickly learned how to get post position during the swing of the ball. This team is really now running a MUCH fuller offense and its so nice to see the back picks, the guard picks on Giorgi's man, the guard crosses, etc. This offense has a TON of options and the team is now reacting rather than thinking.

How long has it been since some were wondering whether we'd get even one Big Ten win?

LMAO.... For sure... How long ago was it that BU had lost the team and the locker room, and most of his recruits (and maybe the entire team) were ready to transfer... lmao....

1. Rutgers is either young and very talented....or played at their zenith. They are light years ahead of Minny.
2. Giorgi....what can you say? I liked him for the biggest impact behind Ayo but he has grown into an All B1G second team level of play and a lock for All-frosh.
3. The season is going pretty much as expected with all the newcomers. They had talent, but it takes time to grow into a team and the schedule did not provide that time. Even ADel has impacted above expectations after watching his early play.
4. All these kids deserve huge kudos and support for sticking together and being persistent at chopping wood. Likely, the majority of teams with a similar journey would be mailing it in, but they never did and play their butts off on defense while learning how to get something out of the offense. After watching the ball being passed around the perimeter for decades before throwing up a desperate three at the end of the shot clock, we are seeing the ball go inside, driven to the rim, and back out to open shooters. Been looking for that for decades. The team has shooters galore and at least one post who can get it any time. Sure look to Griffin, Higgs, and Kane to become plus players eventually....I like them all. But only five get to play and the effort they give demands 10 or more. Even Underwood seems to have adjusted his uncontrollable rage from the bench and worked harder at coaching his kids with respect. I don't mind and !!!-chewing at repeated blunders, but do it in a positive way other than a purple faced, screaming rage.
5. I was looking forward to watching the team grow and learn to play with each other while contributing positively with their personal talents. That is coming to fruition. Success breeds success and the kids are growing daily and certainly from game to game in the confidence dept.
6. Keep in mind, for those of us who have seen 60 years of Illini hoops and actually consumed Chesty potato chips, there will be some more nights when the hoops gods place a lid on the Illini basket and another Iowa or Wisky game inserts itself into the Illini record. However, this team has learned some hard lessons. Most of all, they have learned how to win close games against good teams along with the fact that winning is more fun than losing. The future is bright.

Yes, yes. Add those soft hands to his dancer's feet and it's quite a potent mix...

I agree. Giorgi has the best post moves I've ever seen from an Illini big man. So fun to watch. He was dominant.

Right now I’d say he’s still behind Garris and Bradford ... but Giorgi still has ten games to go.
Georgi and Ayo are awfully darn good. Are they better than others such as harper, Douglass, Winters, Deon, Garris, Dee? Not sure, but they certainly belong in the same conversation
