We did not make Lester Quinones final 7 list. 4 other BIG schools, Maryland, IU, OSU and Michigan were on the list of 7.

Christian Brown had an in home on Sunday with Frank Martin. USC and staff scheduled to see him at Oak Hill's game this Thursday.

assuming that home state love exists in states other than illinois this probably isn’t good news for us

Wasn't South Carolina and Frank Martin where Bruce Bowen eventually ended up committing to??:D

All talk about wings, Dre will be a senior and even chance Ayo goes after next year also (assuming he doesn't go in 2019).
Learning curve on system, leaves Trent and an incoming frosh. Love to see a pg in 19 even if he red shirts in 19-20. We get the guy we want in 20, we have a backup avail behind Trent and him. We lose Kipper after next year but will still have Tevian and Alan and DaMonte. Need for future greater at the point.

Do anyone think we could have a transfer or 5th grad transfer? With Kofi and January coming in and GB playing so well along with Higgs size, and strength. It causes me to wonder what the chances that Samba gets passed on the depth chart next season. What his thoughts may be for any playing time for next season. I dont see Samba as anything other than a 5. Some others can play the 4 or the 5 spot.
It's crazy how quickly things change. It appears we are pretty well set at the 5 for a while with the incoming bigs and this years recruits too.

What makes you think January, or even Kofi will hit the ground running and surpass Kane on the depth chart? Kane is springy and has length that I don't think anyone else on the team possesses, and he didn't have the benefit of the summer program. We haven't seen much from him yet, but the dude has a mountain of potential on the defensive end.

Kofi/Kane
Giorgi/Higgs
January takes the remaining minutes

Are you asking if someone will transfer in or transfer out?

I would put the odds of at least one transfer out at more likely than not. It is the nature of the game now. Don't forget how many guys transferred out after last year.

As for transfer in, that probably depends a lot more on what we find to fill out our scholarship limits. If we have an open scholarship I am sure we will look long and hard at potential transfers.

It depends on the coaches evaluation of Samba and Antwan playing the PF. We haven't seen enough of either of them to evaluate but I'm sure the coaches have a plan. Samba in his brief appearances doesn't seem reluctant to shoot and we have seen him take 1/2 dribbles to the basket. There is still a lot of time to develop his skills and strength as with Antwan. Higgs on the other hand hasn't been able practice his and Antwan seems to be a larger version. My guess is that Samba is Giorgi's backup next year and Antwan is Kofi's. May not want to bet both beach houses on it though

Giorgi will be great next year. Predictions about the others are likely to be as accurate as the predictions for Giorgi this year. The good news is when you've got a lot of quantity your odds of hitting it with one are higher.

I agree. We have seen those years when we did not have a true point guard. After next year, we could be one injury or illness away from major staffing issues at the 1/2, and it's not likely we will get another freshman that can perform in year one like Trent last year or Ayo this year.

I highly disagree with your last sentence. Given the 2020 guards we're in on now, there's a good chance we can find that. And honestly, with how well we've done by Ayo, I'd be pretty shocked if we don't land Adam Miller and that kid is instant impact all the way

Nimari Burnett is scheduled to visit LVille on 2/23 for UVA/LVille game and on 2/24 to visit Michigan for MSU/UM game. Says that Illinois is one of the teams that he has the most contact with. Nimari is going to be a 5* when it's all over.

Agree with instant impact (at least first season, not first few games) but the trio of Ayo, Trent, and Dre could become one and need two replacements. We haven't always been so lucky with injuries either.

Love love love Giorgi, picked him as the next Augie....that said, if he is moved to a more natural 4 position, he might regress output wise. He does very well and I mean as in excellent with back to basket with his little flip shot and those opportunities may come fewer and far between if he isnt playing the block area (normally reserved for traditional 5) is what I am saying.
