English Premier League 2018-2019

Fulham sacked Cluadio Ranieri following their 2:0 defeat to Southampton on Wednesday. Ranieri, who took over the team in November, leaves with the team 19th in the table, 10 points from safety. In his time with the Cottagers, Ranieri only earned 3 wins from 16 league matches, including 10 defeats.

Former Fulham player Scott Parker named as caretaker manager.

Mustafi with a seriously dumb bump on Kane from behind. Kane didn't even have a chance. Plus, the AR missed the offside call. Multiple Spurs were off. Ugh.

They made up for it by giving Auba an undeserved penalty. Luckily, he didn't convert.

His PK was terrible. Spurs encroached early in the box: another blown call. Aubameyang should've buried the cross. Argh! But, to your point, that PK call was bad.

Yeah - well Xhaka should have received an early yellow for the studs up tackle on Kane and easily could have had a few more in the match. It was sad to hear the announcers baffled all game wondering how he still hadn't been booked. Also, Kane's header that was waived off looked to be onside. A terrible job all around by the ref and his assistants.

Apparently, the AR got the call correct:
FA rules state that if "a player in an offside position is moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the foul is penalised as it has occurred before the offside offence."

Spurs and Arsenal drop points and united pulls out a late win. Chelsea should win tomorrow and then it will setup a very exciting race for the top 4 to complement the first title race in awhile

#213
The Merseyside Derby ends in a 0:0 draw at Goodison Park. Both teams had their chances to score but neither one could get one into the back of the net. This match hurts Liverpool more in the table as Manchester City is now ahead of them for first by a point.

Everton returns to action Saturday at Newcastle United.

Decidedly not an MU fan, but Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's done tremendously well since taking over. Just watched the Premier League Download episode featuring him. Really good stuff.

One last thought, MU should lift the interim tag off of OGS. Total no-brainer.

I saw an article a few days ago that said he did a photo / video shoot to promote season ticket sales for next season. It would seem a bit strange for him to do that if they didn't have the intention of giving him the permanent job.

No doubt. Definitely a great story and very well deserved. Oh, yeah, seems like a great guy too. Pure manna. Still don't like MU though, lol.

Apparently, the AR got the call correct:

"attempting to play the ball" is pretty open to interpretation.

for me, i would say if he had jumped before getting fouled, that would be attempting to play the ball but it looks like he was pushed before jumping so good call by the refs. but i could see how someone might think that running towards it as fast as you can could be attempting to play the ball.

the refs have a tough job to do making really tough borderline calls on the spot while we have the luxury of dissecting from replays and different angles. glad VAR is coming to help them out.

Spurs have begun their annual late season collapse. Dropping points right and left. Winner of united/arsenal will be right on their heels along with Chelsea. Not sure why the coach is continual link with bigger clubs considering he has never won a thing.

You do understand that they have brought in 1 player in the last 20+ months and have played every game away from home in the last 2 years, right? Most pundits picked them outside the Top 4 to begin the year. Yet they sit in 3rd and still control their own destiny.

And - if you want to know why Poch is linked to other clubs:
