I know that Kampf got hurt, but has the promotion of Sikura been a trade audition?

Probably more of an internal audition to see if he's worthy of re-signing. From what I see, no. Sure, trade him if you can but I don't see any way he sticks with the team going forward.

Sikura's been underwhelming, thus far. He's pushing 24. Substandard D (being nice here). Offensively, he turned it up a notch or three in the A. Too early to declare him a bust. Hawks will probably re-sign him, for peanuts (~$750k). Unless he's packaged (which is a very real possibility), of course.

Mike Tirico on the call was pretty cool.

Oh and another (ugly) win.

Oh and the Hawks have the sixth most goals in the league. If they had any defense at all they would be comfortably in.

Into WC2 briefly. 2 points from WC1. Soft schedule. Deadline is 5 days out. Think Bowman will make some hockey trades, but Hawks won't be big buyers. So much better than tank mode.

Big win in Detroit although they blew a three-goal lead in the third period. Basically tied for the final wild card spot. And who comes calling this weekend? Colorado and Minnesota, the two teams in the wild card slots. Big games at the UC Friday and Sunday.

Not good when you give up 4 goals and Ward had a very good night in goal. I think Ward has been outstanding.

Stick a fork in them.

[Donning my philosophical hat] This season was all about development. At least they made it interesting for awhile and played well.

Yeah, this time of year you have to stay red-hot to make a move from last in the conference to playoff spot in 40 games. So far they have had a better season than I expected but at the same time parity has really set in on the Western Conf.

Agreed this seasons over. Bowman has his work cut out for him, but I'll eat crow right now saying he's had a good season, management wise. Will be interesting to see if Colliton stays on.

Tank mode, full stop. Currently #6. 16 games to separate the wheat from the chaff (for next season). Really hoping Perlini asserts himself.

I did the tankathon mock draft. Got 3, 7, 8, 1, 8. 8 seems to come up a lot when doing mock drafts.

Chief critic calls for UI to stop joint Illini-Blackhawks promotion

Stephen Kaufman wrote to Chancellor Robert Jones and other UI officials recently complaining about an orange-and-blue baseball cap to be given to fans at the event. The hat features the university's Block I and the Chicago Blackhawks logo, a profile drawing of an American Indian.

"This endorsement of the Blackhawks and the merchandising of the Block I symbol with the Blackhawks logo does the campus an enormous disservice and disregards thirty years of objections to the use of Native American imagery by the campus that has been repeatedly voiced in the UIUC Senate," Kaufman wrote to campus senate leaders last week.

Can this guy just go away???
