Barry Hinson "stepping down" at SIU. It's a tougher gig than it used to be, but it's hard to say he didn't underachieve, especially with some decent talent the last few years.

SIU is one of a number of coaching openings right now. The others that have been announced to this point:

UCLA
Temple
Tennessee Tech
Stetson
Kennesaw State
Cal Poly

Think we should add LSU to the list preemptively? Given the Wade phone call and all.

These could/should make the list as well, WF, Arizona, USC (possible), Richmond, Nebraska, California, Cincy, Penn St, VCU, Tulane, Washington St. there will be a large ## this year.

I think Chambers from Penn St. may have saved his job.

I agree also Miles at Nebraska should be safe if for no other reason, Who is the better alternative that you can get? I mean Illinois went through this as well I think, ILLINI are still and always will be a better draw for basketball than either of the other two.

And people on here called me crazy when I said this would happen during the Timme recruitment.

In fairness, fans in College Station absolutely do not care about basketball, so it wouldn't have surprised me to see them hang onto a middling-yet-affordable guy for a while. They pay Jimbo Fisher so much money that it wouldn't have been unreasonable how much they would feel like paying two basketball and two football coaches all at the same time. Then again, Texas A&M is almost literally rolling around in money, so maybe it's a non-issue.

No we wouldn't
I feel people on here would then have hopes of a national championship, and rightly so with sweet 16 appearances included over these past years along with the previous basketball history. So in the sense of most of us would be hoping for even more, you are correct, but, we would be much happier with those records instead of our actual past 8 years I truly believe, IMO

Exactly. I was mostly being sarcastic. Knowing what we know now, we would definitely take it. But had that been our path the last 8 years we wouldn't be happy with it either lol

And I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that!

Does he not like winning?

I get that he signed with a particular coach, but "That's gotta suck" would apply to every player involved in every coaching hire. But the reality is that most hires are welcomed by the players that remain. If they get better, it won't suck, it will be great.

I just mean because he will have gone through 3 coaches in 4 years of playing time, that is all
