Only with a really big deal injury, am I right?
He would have a hard time coming up with one of those while transferring, at least if I'm the judge.
I could see this. Mark Smith tells me NCAA is getting more lax. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that attorneys are rattling their cages.

Unless CM transfers to a lower division, then he has 2 years and is immediately eligible.

i see DePaul or Loyola in C. Moore's future. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a waiver. Also, don't be surprised if Alabama's Lewis ends up in Lawrence.

Kevin Cross with an offer. Under the radar Arkansas kid. 6'8" 240 lb. Got a little Draymond in him. Don't know if he has any other offers but I think he's a nice looking prospect that would be a good fit and address a positional need.

Thanks for the link, hadn't heard of him before?

Yes, yes, and yes. A great place for the Higgs scholarship. He has hops and energy. Don't see shots in the clip from more than 15' but appears to have good touch and he has good handles for a big and likes to rebound and block shots. Don't care about his ratings.

Sign me up for that kid. Every team should want a kid like that. Both the floor and ceiling for him look high.

The video was long, but easy to watch - it showed so many things. Unfortunately, there was no thumping music to listen to (/s), but the video showed more continuous play than most and gives (hopefully) better insight into what the kid can do than most. You see more of what's going on in the game leading up to what the kid does; you see the context of the decisions. From what I saw:
  • the kid is a team player … he looks for his teammates, passes well from different floor locations and never appeared to be chucking or hero-ing (even though, as the tallest player on the floor and w/ ability to dribble, he probably could have created for himself almost all the time against the competition shown)
  • his teammates go to him as one of their designated ball handlers
  • he has body control and footwork like Malcom Hill and can shoot midrange; different body-type than Malcom (more Draymond G); camera too far away to judge the quality of the 240lbs, but the weight would help him hold his own as a college freshman (and if there's some soft tissue there for Fletch exchange out for muscle, the kid really could be a physical presence - could be quite a bit like Draymond G)
  • kid seems to play within himself; he doesn't over-jump (so, maybe his vertical, though not explosive, could be better than shown); he keeps track of his teammates and looks like a thinker out there
  • like Malcom, this kid doesn't look like an explosive jumper (but at least you can get a couple of NY phonebooks under his feet when he jumps); at 6'8", if his vertical isn't better than Malcom's, it's not a great issue for college ball, because, like Malcom, he moves laterally, spins, drops, etc., so smoothly and with such balance that he'll get his shot off
  • there were at least two rattle-it-home 3pt shots from him in the video; it doesn't seem like the 3 is a big part of his game, yet, but I didn't see anything making me think he could not be/become a keep-you-honest 3pt shooter
He looks like he's playing as a big guard on his HS team, but looks like he would come in as a college 3-4. On this year's IL team, he have might have been an upgrade for us as at the 4, but I'd be surprised if he would have been an upgrade for us at 3. (do to speed and lack of clarity on his 3pt shot). If he gets quicker/faster with some college body transformation (and reveals/develops a good 3pt shot), his ball handling might allow him even to become a big college 2 - wouldn't that be great?

Future speed and 3pt shooting look like the questions to answer about the kid's ceiling, but he already looks like a plus player for us if we could get him. Looking at the video, picture the kid being asked to do what we had Damonte and AJ doing for us … Standard disclaimers apply about adjustments to be made for not being the tallest or biggest player on the floor when he reaches college, but the kid's versatile skill set looks like it will give options to go around people when he can't go over or through them.

Don't see him as a three on our team because of need but he looks like he could help right away at the four. Found photos of him and he needs some Fletch. Probably play at 230 instead of 240 but will be the pusher not the pushee. Think he got his growth late which may explain his ball handling skills. Evidently didn't play much AAU ball so was under the radar.

This guy knows what he is talking about. January played in the first two games of the season and then stepped away to focus on his academics. From all the transferring he did in HS he is having the same issues Samba had to iron out this past summer. BU already knows what he has with January, and saw what he did in his first two games. With that in mind he's fine with keeping January off the radar to make sure he gets his core classes ironed out now so he can be here this summer.
This has been known for a while and my source told me the same thing two months ago. Just so you all know this topic was pretty hot on Twitter about two weeks ago and Antwan changed his profile pic of himself wearing an Illini uniform almost instantly and it's been pretty quiet since. He seems pretty confident he's gonna make it and he talks with Kofi quite a bit so I don't have any reason to question it untill I hear otherwise. Besides that why would BU waste an OV if he wasn't sure he would qualify.

Because BU was desperate. He had 0 commits at that time and desperately needed one. Easy to see why he would roll the dice and hope it works out.

Should come down to Hendrix and us for Cross.
