Hedge on Griffin bolting or something else? Cursory look: he looks good.

Didn't we already try this once with Alstork? Color me jaded on outside shooters from lesser leagues / schools / countries
I agree is this comment. Crosby (sp?) was another. Northwestern had Ryan Taylor that meets this criterion also.

We tried Ibby Djimde, but that didn't work out. Then we tried the GEORGIAN Ibby Djimde, and that worked out fantstically! Sometimes it's worth trying again, maybe with an added adjective.

Alstork wasn't a shooter.
He wasn't for Illinois. But pretty good numbers for 2 years at Wright State. 38 or 39% on a decent amount taken for a scorer. You'd have expected that to translate some here.....but it didn't.

Funny things happen when the D and the athleticism are turned way up. It certainly didn't help that our offense was bad. Had Alstork stepped into a better O, I suspect he would've fared better. Definitely more of a scorer than shooter though.

Just because one transfer didn't work out, doesn't mean all won't. Bryn Forbes was a pretty good shooter at MSU that transferred from a lower conference and ultimately made it to the NBA. Texas Tech starts two grad transfers.

Alstork definitely struggled , but maybe learning the new system had something to do with that? Perhaps they’re looking for someone to be primarily a shooter . I’ll trust the coaches judgment.

Yeah, my comment was a bit tongue in cheek and just mostly referring to our luck in this space...

Alstork seemed to struggle in all aspects at Illinois. Even his FT% dropped 8%. He got over 14 shots a game at Wright State, and about 5 at Illinois. Sometimes it's tough for a volume shooter to be relegated to a role player. It certainly seemed to have an effect Mark's confidence.
Tomas is about as highly rated as a JuCo performer as Andres was a year ago. Feliz has certainly earned a major role. Maybe this guy can do the same. The Illini could certainly use someone who can knock down outside shots at decent rate. I am still hopeful that griffin will be one of those guys, but I'm losing faith that Demonte will ever develop a reliable outside shot, despite his efforts to do so.

I agree about his confidence. By the middle of the season, he seemed afraid to shoot an open three. To be fair, he was a great on-ball defender.

Supposedly Brad Underwood has never oversigned in his 6 years of head coaching.
