The conference has announced #B1G opponents for next season. Here's who we've got home and away.

One of the hardest conference schedules I've seen us play in a while. The non conference should be easier than last years.

So the teams we play only once are:

IU
PSU
tOSU
Minny
Wiscy
Nebby

I'm okay with that, honestly. We still play the Kitty Cats and Rutgers twice. I think we have a shot against the ones we only play once and at home. Almost all the others will be resume boosters if we win or won't hurt too much if we lose. Let's just not go into the conference season with a losing record again, okay?

That might be a 8 win year in conference?
I would hope! Illinois won 7 games in conference last year, so I'm kind of hoping for at least 10-10 in conference this year, if not a winning record. Combine that with an easier non conference schedule and it should mean a tourney birth.

I agree but the schedule is fairly brutal and the home games are especially dicey...the non conference may have to be almost flawless for the tourney to happen.

What's wrong with Rutgers? They were SIGNIFICANTLY better as conference season went on and they were young. This schedule is doing us no favors. Like others are saying however....the non conference shouldn't be murderers row like this past season and we're not bringing in a whole new cast of characters.

It'll be interesting.

I haven't been to Italy. I just don't see any of the kids (beyond potentially Ayo going pro) having a better opportunity for playing time at a better academic institution (you mentioned degree in your comment) or transferring to a program where their professional basketball careers get a serious boost than where they're at now.
.

100% agree with everything here, just simply disagree that if a guy was thinking about transferring he would say to himself “oh wait, we are going to Italy this summer so i’ll stay.” It’s just too big of a decision for the deciding factor to be a vacation.

Agreed. I said u18.5 wins 200 posts earlier and think with that conference schedule I'm probably right. However doing good work in noncon and being mediocre in the conference should give us a decent enough resume for a shot. It will definitely be a fun team to watch regardless.

It's fairly brutal to the teams that have us on their schedule too. Fans will change that loser mentality pretty early next season. Go ALL IN with your beach houses on that.

My wife took mine along with alot of other things...anyways, it is now Barbie's Dream House Platinum Series...can I still wager that one?

Not a loser mentality, a realist outlook is all...
My realistic outlook is that we will likely go 21-10 heading into the BTT, win 1-2 there, make at least the Sweet 16. So what is your initial reaction to my mentality? Pre-event realism is definitely fluid.

A little early to predict next year's conference record, but what the hell, it's fun. I honestly believe we should do no worse than 12 and 8 with a ceiling
of 14 and 6. With a decent big to clog the middle and a year more of playing together, we should win at least 4 on the road and 8 at home.
I think next year is finally here. We are about to get our mojo back. And my first thought about Katz picking us 36th was how disappointed that
would have made us years ago. Love the player support of Brad. Things are about to change.

Why did Katz ask Giorgi why he's coming back? He's just a freshman.

Giorgi's gonna play in the NBA! There will be a movie about his life! Beach houses will trade hands!

He's got what they call "it". Nobody knows exactly what "it" is, but he's got it.

You think our floor is 12 wins and the ceiling is 14 wins? That is a very narrow range of outcomes, any of which I would be ecstatic about.

While I snicker a little at this, I'm not sure you're wrong! He won't get a sniff I think until after his Junior year when he adds a solid 3 point shot and he shows that he can hold his own against stronger, bigger players...but his soft touch around the basket that allows him to negate taller opponents, quick feet, and his intangibles like locker room/personality all make him an intriguing second round pick potentially. I think his skills would be better matched in the other leagues, but the NBA is always the destination is it not?!

Stay out of trouble, keep working with a solid attitude, and keep smiling...I think Giorgi has a shot!

I mean he had 12.5/5.2 with much better stats in the B1G. Would he be drafted? No. But is he better than some of the players testing the draft to get feedback? Probably.
