bring in a senior QB transfer (tate or tommy) and put him in the backfield with IW 5-10 snaps a game the way penn state ran with two QB's.
have a sit down with Coran and move him to receiver. run three incredibly gifted athletic QB's on the field with Beason and Corbin and watch
Big Ten defenses heads spin around.
Rod is a one QB guy and Coran will never be a receiver.

...all of course assuming our O Line can give them time to do their thing.... seems to be one of the bigger points of concern this year along with LBs and of course our QB situation.

We offer a very good fit. I'll be surprised if we're not one of his finalists.

From our end, what's not to like? QB is not arguably our shakiest position. Stevens is better than Bush (running and passing and game management) was and would fortify our QB situation immensely. Yes, our young uns might be angry and/or sad. So what?

Have you seen our receiving corps?

I'm not disputing this, but I'm curious why. Is the player unwilling to transition, or is it a capability thing (e.g., route running, hands)?

He has stated numerous times that he doesn't want to be a WR.

He was recruited here to play QB. If Illinois wants WRs then they should recruit and LAND WRs. If it doesn't work out here then he should move on to the MAC or the FCS where he can have a chance to play QB.

For selfish reasons I'd rather he stay here and continue to develop as a QB. Injuries happen and depth is always needed especially when you have an offense where QBs are expected to run quite a bit. He could be used in Wildcat packages as well.

This staff has had plenty of time to get even halfway decent receivers, yet our best ones outside of Smalling (who hasn't even sniffed his potential) are walk-ons.

No, our best ones, besides Smalling (and Carter if he can play this year) are transfers.

I'm not suggesting Coran move to wide reciever because he cant play QB. I saw him in high school and think he can play QB at a very high level.
I see four QB's that could play this fall and I want another play maker on the field. If he doesn't want to play receiver, then he continues to develop
and helps us down the road. He has all the physical attributes of a top QB, lets get him ready. I just see him getting recruited over the top of and
wish he took advantage of his opportunity.

I agree with this. It has been said that he is the better runner of the three current roster QBs. So he clearly well behind in the throwing aspects. With IW coming in and his elite athleticism, Coran is going to have a much bigger mountain to climb to reach that starting spot. Not out of the realm of possibility, just unlikely.

FYI......but word on a PSU board is that Tommy Stevens and Mississippi State haven't been in contact with one another. Doesn't look like that'll be his destination.

Mookie is going to take all 5 of his official visits, so it sounds like he won't be committing anytime soon.

I have zero insight, but the only thing I can think of is that he wants to visit other schools. Staff doesn’t allow if committed, I think. So, hopefully communicated with staff and everything is still good between everyone, takes his visits, then ends up at Illinois.

He said he is still high on illinois, I bet there is more to the story

Basically every kid who decommits from a school says something like this or that the original school is still in contention. They never come back.

Yeah, I’m in the camp thinking he is gone. However, SOMETIMES they do come back. I just think it’s rare.
